#163 - Where did I say anything about anyone avoiding taxes?? K  [+] (9 new replies) 09/10/2012 on The Daily Show -1
#164 - wishanonscouldpost (09/10/2012) [-]
Your point is what demented said.

"That's why it's retarded for people to say that big business needs to be taxed more. All they'll do is just trickle the extra cost for them down to the consumers by raising their prices slightly."

Meaning that you are saying that its okay for big businesses to not be taxed, because they will hurt the American people by putting the cost on them if they do get taxed.

So they are avoiding taxes by threatening to hurt the American people.

I really had to connect that for you? Logic isn't very common these days.
#165 - Griffino (09/11/2012) [-]
Somehow logic escapes you; you're assuming I think corporations should not be taxed at all. This is where I think your logic ends and you're sadly mistaken. Nothing I ever said should allude you to believe that I think any business should be 100% tax exempt. Stop being retarded and read my comments before you make assumptions. Sorry to have to "connect that for you". Are you a business owner? Do you have any idea of what is really going on, or are you a simple minded employee with no sway, nothing to contribute other than an online opinion?
#166 - wishanonscouldpost (09/11/2012) [-]
I didn't say you said that they shouldn't be taxed at all. Using a straw man argument isn't going to help you. My point is that you are saying that corporations should not be taxed at a high level because they will pass on the cost to the American people, thus you are saying it is okay for corporations to screw over the American people with threats of extra costs to avoid taxes. You are bowing down to the corperations and not taxing them simply because they threaten you with raising prices. They do not need to raise prices to make profit, even if they had high taxes they would make a good profit. Do you understand?

Are you a business owner? Most of this site is underage, probably you as well. Owning a small businesses does not validate your opinion on big corporations, they run entirely different. Even if you did run a small business that does not mean you instantly understand the economy. And you are probably going to say you run a business now or similar bullshit, alright. That does not change a thing. You can not prove it online and you need to back up your experience with evidence regardless. Just going to reply to you preemptively to let you know that.
#167 - Griffino (09/12/2012) [-]
I think we're getting side-tracked here. Do corporations raise costs as taxes increase? Yes (fact). Is this a problem? I believe it is (opinion). Does it cause inflation? Yes (fact). I'm not here to argue with you, so I'll stick to the fact. Good day.
#168 - wishanonscouldpost (09/13/2012) [-]
You are correct, but why do you think it is okay for corporations to threaten to raise prices to avoid certain taxes?

Surely the best thing to do would be to make it illegal for corporations to retaliate for tax rates?
#169 - Griffino (09/13/2012) [-]
it's called price fixing, the gov. tried that with gas prices once back in the day (60s? before my time) ugly things happened. And I don't think it's ok for corps to threaten higher prices for any reason.
#170 - wishanonscouldpost (09/13/2012) [-]
Price fixing is when two parties agree to keep the same price in order to avoid market competition.

Saying that corporations can not raise prices based upon tax rates is not really fixing prices.
#171 - Griffino (09/13/2012) [-]
Correct, in the case I'm refering to, the goverment "agrees to work with (or shut down a vendor/manufacturer) and close the business license to a vendor of someone compliant/non-compliant. They have the ultimate power to keep them from cashing checks using a business name. In this case, price fixing is what the gov. set the price of fuel at...creating long lines. The vendor didn't have the supply they needed to make a profit.
#172 - wishanonscouldpost (09/13/2012) [-]
Well with fuel it is a bit different. Most petrol is imported from the middle east.

Either way what I am suggested is if corporations are limited from raising prices just based on tax increases. Just so they can not threaten to raise prices if they get taxed slightly higher. That isn't the same as what you said.

Canada is just a shittier US. Their major cities are filled with Chinese immigrants, just like America's major cities are filled with blacks and mexicans. If you must, go rural.

I'd suggest moving to Iceland.
