Untrue. If you get people to question things they believe and then they go and research them, they can change their minds. Part of the reason that religion is decreasing in Western societies is because of the information available on the internet and people who discuss it.

I think that we should look at the fact that its 2015 and we should let people make their own choices. The fact that people still argue among each other is stupid and is holding us back as people, not religion or atheism.
#43 - popeflatus (01/29/2015) [-]
Arguing and discussing is how we can disseminate ideas and learn more about the world. To not do these things is what will hold us back.
User avatar #59 - Gandalfthewhite (01/29/2015) [-]
arguing has it's benefits, but the religious arguments online have no benefits. I mean as if an athiest will actually convince a christian to become athiest over an online argument

Yeah, but it kinda cool if you're at all into HP. You also take a quiz to find out what kind of wand you'd get. I have an apple wood wand with a unicorn hair core.
#134 - psdeath (01/28/2015) [-]
The best part about Pottermore is that "How long and hard is your wand?" is a completely valid question.

Just started out, got sorted into Slytherin with a 13 inch long, hard, larch wood wand with dragon heartstring core.
User avatar #136 - nyxeos (01/28/2015) [-]
So basically you're totally evil I'm guessing? And mine is 11 1/4 rigid.
#140 - psdeath (01/28/2015) [-]
I'm learning how to draw and decided to design my own wand. How does it look? It's made out of a single branch which splits into three thinner ones. The whole branch has been polished and fixed up, and then the thin branches have been twisted around each other, ending in a three tipped wand, with the dragon core in the center of the twisted branches.
User avatar #141 - nyxeos (01/28/2015) [-]
Wand looks cool, but it's hard to say without colouring/shading.

And for your other comment, I wasn't going solely on Slytherin, I was talking about that in combination with the dragon heart string. Especially since with mine, both apple wood and unicorn hair are unlikely to turn to the dark arts.
User avatar #142 - psdeath (01/28/2015) [-]
Yeah, I didn't want to ruin it by shading since I suck at it and always fuck up. But I'll draw it on my computer at some point and make it look better.

And yep, coupled with that one could think I'm evil, but I am surprisingly very unlikely to do evil things. I'm just a high-risk/high-reward kinda guy, and for that the Larch wood, and especially the dragon heartstring core, are really good.
User avatar #143 - nyxeos (01/28/2015) [-]
Well definitely show me the updated version once you get around to it
#139 - psdeath (01/28/2015) [-]
Well, definitely not because of Slytherin, we're gravely misunderstood. However, dragon heartstring is the core which is most likely to turn to dark arts.

In fact, if Slytherin is evil, what does that make my girlfriend? She got sorted into Slytherin, but her wand does not only have a unicorn hair core - which are the most difficult to turn to dark arts - she also has a wand made out of Rowan wood, which is a wood said to have never been used by a dark wizard, or used for evil actions.

She did say she's going to become the first evil witch with a Rowan wood wand, so I am a bit worried I guess.

The Normans lost Normandy before they become Kings. Williams father was actually a younger son of a Norwegian duke (Rollo, or Gange-Rolf). He settled in what we today know as Rouen, married the wife of a local ruler, swore allegiance to the French king - and vowed to protect them from Viking raiders. He then founded the Duchy of Normandy.
