Sorry, but the Mosuo are a matrilinear society (you could argue that they do have aspects of matriarchy, but at most they could be considered a mix up of both). They are presented as matriarchal for the same reason that little "African statuettes" are made the way they are made: it's good for commerce and tourism

Buy the guy's definition, it means landing an army there as an act of war, be it in an attempt to colonize, oust current leaders, etc. Britain did just that on a few occasions fighting for portugal independance from spain, landing armies and blockading the current Spanish government there, and sent armies into Portugal during the peninsular war, again ousting french-supporting-spanish rule.
