They're named after germanic gods, that's why all countries with germanic languages (English, German, Dutch, Scandinavian languages) have their days named after germanic gods. French however is a roman language, just like Spanish and Italian, and that's why they nmae their days after roman gods.

Wednesday-Mercury's day since again in Spanish is Miercoles and in French is Mercredi
Thursday-Thor's day
Friday-either Freya's day or Venus' day since in Spanish is Viernes and in French is Vendredi
Saturday-Saturn's day
Sunday-Sun's day

I didn't know that Romanian was a romance language. I knew Spanish, French, and Italian were romance languages but not Romanian. Thanks for telling me that :) I disagree however with the part about Sunday being about God. The days of the week and the months were named after gentile things, like greek and roman mythology. Even Christmas has always been more sacrilegious because it's more celebrating the winter solstice than Jesus' birthday. According to the facts, Jesus was supposedly born more in March or April. I'm sorry for the facts overload. I love learning things like that.
