I don't know where you live, but here in the States, fast food is dirt cheap. You can get a meal for $2 at McDonald's (2 McDoubles or McChickens). The key thing, though, is time. Some people are lazy, but many others are just too poor. Regardless, though, a fast food dinner takes a couple of minutes, compared to much longer if you cook at home.

Also, he's not arguing that they eat fast food 24/7. Poorer people (and I mean really poor, like some people I know (like my best friend (I like parentheses))) can only afford heavily processed, cheap foods. Ramen is cheaper than fast food for sure, but it isn't much healthier, and chicken pot pies, TV dinners, and the like are very unhealthy, laden with trans fats and nasty chemicals. Can you buy a large bag of rice and feed your family with it for a week? Sure you can, but unless you're in a truly desperate situation, you'd never subject yourself or your family to such an unbalanced and bland diet.
#232 - jiltist (06/08/2013) [-]
Instead of paying 2USD for a single meal at Micky D's, I can buy a box of spaghetti noodles, a can of tomato juice, and a couple multivitamins. This is enough to feed a person for two days, costs the same, and is much more wholesome.

I am well aware of the fact that McDonald's is cheap. I live in CO. But what about every other fast food place we have? Those aren't so cheap. Not everyone goes to just McDonald's all the time. Also, I am well aware that he is not arguing that they eat fast food all the time. But, as he has said, it is "the main staple of their diet". They would probably be saving a ton of money if it was NOT the main staple in their diet. You don't have to live off of pot pies, ramen, or TV dinners. If I was so poor that I'd have to live off of rice, I'm pretty sure I would not be able to afford fast food either.

I live on 5400 a year. While I do not have any dependents, I am physically very healthy because I eat healthy and I exercise, yet I'm still able to support hobbies and pay for electrolysis.

To say that someone who makes even 25,000 a year can't support four children financially is ridiculous. Granted, there would be little to no supervision for them, but that's life. Plenty of kids grow up without parental supervision, though usually to ill effect.

I do know how hard it is to live on that small of a budget. I grew up poor as shit. Not to mention that I am not living at home any more. I'm probably worse off than they are with my waitressing job. Is fast food the staple of my diet? Hell no. It's expensive as shit. I'm not saying I don't ever go out and eat, because I do, but the majority of food I eat is bought at the store because it's drastically cheaper.

If we don't know these people, why the fuck are you bringing their story to the internet? People are going to criticize how they live their life and feed their family because this family doesn't understand how much more expensive fast food is than going to the store. If you don't like that, maybe you should not be using them as an example for your argument.

Actually it does have something to do with what you're talking about. You're sitting there saying that all he can afford is fast food. User avatar #88 - MUTHATRUCKA (06/07/2013) [-]
that is a valid point, too bad it has nothing to do with what im talking about. If you took the time to read what i said before you jumped the gun to counter me you'd understand im not defending the choices of fat people just some hard working fat people.
User avatar #100 - FUUUU (06/07/2013) [-]
Actually it does have something to do with what you're talking about. You're sitting there saying that all he can afford is fast food. Trucking job or not, it's not difficult to walk into Walmart, buy a meal from the deli or even fresh fruit/vegetables, and still save a few bucks compared to a meal from a fast food joint.
User avatar #104 - MUTHATRUCKA (06/07/2013) [-]
Again, not all the food they eat is fast food, it is the main staple of their diet, and you have no idea how hard it is unless you are the person with that small of a budget. you people dont know these people so its unfair for you to just say this way of life is easier than the one you are living.
User avatar #118 - FUUUU (06/07/2013) [-]

#127 - jakatackka (06/07/2013) [-]

User avatar #149 - FUUUU (06/07/2013) [-]
#170 - jakatackka (06/07/2013) [-]
Although I would like to argue the point more, I know this argument is ultimately of very little meaning, so I won't pursue the point further. You seem like an intelligent person, and I suspect that we ultimately believe the same thing - we just are focusing on different parts. I bid you good day.
User avatar #120 - MUTHATRUCKA (06/07/2013) [-]
For the love of god and all that is holy will you READ WHAT I AM WRITING i do know these people. did you have four kids? Does your job make more than $30,000? Just go back and read my previous posts and then formulate your opinions.
#231 - jiltist (06/08/2013) [-]
I live on 5400 a year. While I do not have any dependents, I am physically very healthy because I eat healthy and I exercise, yet I'm still able to support hobbies and pay for electrolysis.

To say that someone who makes even 25,000 a year can't support four children financially is ridiculous. Granted, there would be little to no supervision for them, but that's life. Plenty of kids grow up without parental supervision, though usually to ill effect.
User avatar #128 - FUUUU (06/07/2013) [-]
I don't have kids, I have roommates. I make far LESS than 30k a year, bub. I know you know these people, I said "we" as in THE REST OF FUNNYJUNK. Good lord, how about you do some reading for a change? It's like you never learned basic paragraph comprehension.
User avatar #131 - MUTHATRUCKA (06/07/2013) [-]
Do your roommates sustain themselves? and oh yes i should learn basic comprehension, which is what you demonstrated beautifully ever since you started typing.
User avatar #145 - FUUUU (06/07/2013) [-]
Two of them lost their jobs. Until they get kicked out or get another job, they consume my food and drink, smoke my cigarettes, and use my utilities, hygiene products, and other things like detergent and printer ink. My roommate who can actually pay is pregnant and can't work as much as she used to.
User avatar #151 - MUTHATRUCKA (06/07/2013) [-]
You see, everyone has a DIFFERENT SITUATION so there is no point saying "oh well they should do this or they should do that instead" That is what my entire post has been about
User avatar #152 - FUUUU (06/07/2013) [-]
Okay dude, you obviously don't understand what anyone else is saying here, so whatever. Have fun arguing your opinion to everyone else.
User avatar #156 - MUTHATRUCKA (06/07/2013) [-]
You missed the entire point i was making in it's entirety. What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
User avatar #171 - FUUUU (06/07/2013) [-]
Not sure how it doesn't make sense, but okay.
#97 - N. Korean citizen (06/07/2013) [-]
