Not necessarily. Mass is a function of size. If the planet was 7 times as massive, but had only one-seventh the density in relation to the size, you would experience Earth-normal gravity. Also, consider the fact that you are also now a fair amount further away from the planet's core, so gravity doesn't pull on you as hard.

Well that isn't necessarily true. The formula for surface gravity is g=GM/r^2, with G being the gravitational constant, M being mass and r being the radius. This tells us that gravity (g) is proportional to both Mass and Radius. This suggests that while the planet may have a much greater mass, if it also has a proportionally greater radius it could support life, or at least we wouldn't be crushed under its surface gravity.
