I would like to apologize for this breed of Americans. They have very low working intelligence, are terrible with other pets, and are naturally very prone to hurting themselves through sheer stupidity. I assure you, however, that there are many other breeds of American who are nothing like this one.

couple hundred, lol...ya'lls "great empire" couldnt even hold on to a few small colonies when they wanted freedom. some army. GB is boring as fuck and ya'lls citizens have proven over and over that they are just lame.

still trying to ride high from the stuff your country did in the 1600's eh?

I live in England. Also, it does not devalue my point at all. If you had 999.994 grams, just by the use of sig figs, it would be rounded up.

yes but 1kg = 1000 gram
ergo .999994kg is 999,994 gram.
rounded to the second decimal is 999,99 gram.

rounded to 2 decimal points
meaning you round up after the second digit after the decimal, like 3,14 for pi.
User avatar
#277 - Ejvind (01/18/2012) [-]
Yes, but it's a 9 after that decimal, meaning you would round it up to 1kg. Pi is rounded to 3,14 because the next digit is 1. It it were 3.149 it would be rounded to 3.15.

I seriously can't believe i made an account just to reply to this shit.
But that just shows how much i hate idiots thinking they know stuff and then posts about it.
First yes your calculations are correct but you havent taken fission(yes look it up) into account nor the electron that will have to be removed aswell.

So the best way to deal with this:
1kg pure mercury with a standard atomic weight of 200.59 g/mol means it has :
1000g/(200.59g/mol) = 4.9853 mol (if you want the amount of atoms it's simply the amount of mol times avogadros constant)
gold has an atomic weight of 196.966569 g/mol
Now we have the same amount of atoms in our mix of gold:
4.9853 mol * 0.196966569 kg/mol= 0.98194 kg

So infact we would get 0.98194 kg gold from 1 kg mercury.

Physic'd (even tough this falls under chemistry) .

And would people stop posting like they know everything about stuff they suck at!?
