First yes your calculations are correct but you havent taken fission(yes look it up) into account nor the electron that will have to be removed aswell. So the best way to deal with this: 1kg pure mercury with a standard atomic weight of 200.59 g/mol means it has : 1000g/(200.59g/mol) = 4.9853 mol (if you want the amount of atoms it's simply the amount of mol times avogadros constant) gold has an atomic weight of 196.966569 g/mol Now we have the same amount of atoms in our mix of gold: 4.9853 mol * 0.196966569 kg/mol= 0.98194 kg So infact we would get 0.98194 kg gold from 1 kg mercury. Physic'd (even tough this falls under chemistry) . And would people stop posting like they know everything about stuff they suck at!? #338
