yologdog (02/23/2014) [-] I may just be too old, or maybe I'm too heavy, but that song sounds really whinny. Not to mention pretty buttfuckin gay. Here's a better Song about fire. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWjeXQq3yzk also this www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HXlvA9a_TA This is a funny song www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWpuhz8-EHY You never think you'll get into heavier shit. And then one day you do. And it leaves you like "When did this happen? Why do the bands I used to like suck?" It's a cover song by ellie goulding. I just prefer the punk version over the original.

| We've been mining the earth for thousands of years and it hasn't impacted it's orbit around the sun. Do you really think the same would happen to the moon? I never said it wasn't important. In fact, it's vital to all life on earth. But mining it isn't going to cause it to spontaneously explode. | ||

nottoointeresting (02/17/2014) [-] You are completely wrong on the first count and the the second you have just pulled a statistic out of your ass. Well done my child. Youre neckbeard training is complete. No go! go forth into the world and spread our missinformation! muhahaha Please educate me, then. How exactly would the existance of our planet be threatened should the moon be mined? Not talking about society, biosphere in general or climate. I do not see a way our planet would just blink out of existence or blow up the second somebody mined the last rock of the Moon. I did not claim the number to be precise and I did not claim it to be based off any relevant research. While I can see how that would be a problem now that you pointed it out, I'd like to say a few things in my defense: This thread did not start as a serious scientific discussion. The number is rough and meant only for illustration. "Eyeballing" does not mean "This is a precise number you should totally take for truth and call me a liar if it turns out not to be" It means "Here's my assumption based on my experience with the matter and on what my gut tells me". That being said, I am led to believe you have more precise information on the Moon mining problematic. If that is the case, I would be happy to study some material you could provide. We've been mining the earth for thousands of years and it hasn't impacted it's orbit around the sun. Do you really think the same would happen to the moon? I never said it wasn't important. In fact, it's vital to all life on earth. But mining it isn't going to cause it to spontaneously explode.

| "There is an art, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. Pick a nice day and try it. All it requires is simply the ability to throw yourself forward with all your weight, and the willingness not to mind that it's going to hurt. That is, it's going to hurt if you fail to miss the ground. Most people fall to miss the ground, and if they are really trying properly, the likelihood is that they will fail to miss it fairly hard. Clearly, it is the second part, the missing, which presents the difficulties. One problem is that you have to miss the ground accidentally. It's no good deliberately intending to miss the ground because you won't. You have to have you attention suddenly distracted by something else when you're halfway there, so that you are no longer thinking about falling, or about the ground, or about how much it's going to hurt if you fail to miss it. Hence most people's failure, and their eventual disillusionment with this exhilarating and spectacular sport. If, however, you are lucky enough to have your attention momentarily distracted at the crucial moment by, say, a gorgeous pair of legs (tentacles, pseudopodia, according to phyllum and/or personal inclination) or a bomb going off in your vicinity, or by suddenly spotting an extremely rare species of beetle crawling along a nearby twig, then in your astonishment you will miss the ground completely and remain bobbing just a few inches above it in what might seem to be a slightly foolish manner. This is a moment for superb and delicate concentration.Ignore all considerations of your own weight and simply let yourself waft higher. Do not listen to what anybody says to you at this point because they are unlikely to say anything helpful. They are most likely to say something along the lines of "Good God, you can't possibly be flying!" It is vitally important not to believe them or they will suddenly be right. DO NOT WAVE AT ANYBODY." -Hitchhiker's #93 -
soloman (02/17/2014) [-] I know what you're saying, but the series as a whole is long enough that I don't feel that happens. There's the typical stuff, like 42 and towels and maybe even this quip about flying, for which it's happened, but every time I read through it, it's full enough of less overused bits that I don't feel it looses its charm. A 5 book series can't as easily be defeated by such forces as a single feature length film fortunately. I suppose it was ruined for me by my high school's Douglas Adams Appreciation Club, consisting of five members, circlejerking about the Guide and Douglas Adams in general. Terry Pratchett wasn't safe either. You should always know where your towel and the Guide is at all times

This isn't the fixed verison, I should've mentioned that.
The fixed one will be done sometime tomorrow - It was quadruple the amount of polygons, and being rendered by a single 4GHz 8 core.
