How exactly would the existance of our planet be threatened should the moon be mined? Not talking about society, biosphere in general or climate. I do not see a way our planet would just blink out of existence or blow up the second somebody mined the last rock of the Moon.

I did not claim the number to be precise and I did not claim it to be based off any relevant research. While I can see how that would be a problem now that you pointed it out, I'd like to say a few things in my defense: This thread did not start as a serious scientific discussion. The number is rough and meant only for illustration. "Eyeballing" does not mean "This is a precise number you should totally take for truth and call me a liar if it turns out not to be" It means "Here's my assumption based on my experience with the matter and on what my gut tells me".

That being said, I am led to believe you have more precise information on the Moon mining problematic. If that is the case, I would be happy to study some material you could provide.
