There can't be a negative number in the sciences, though. That would mean you're somehow taking Chemistry away from Physics to come to Biology. As much as I dislike Chemistry, I can't help but feel that the negative numbers are better used with the arts.

physics = 12
chemistry = -8
biology = 4

Then |Physics|=12 |Chemistry|=8 and |Biology| = 4 ;)
