And why doesn't she? Everything in the movie leading up to that point was showing that she had a tremendous connection the Force. Hux, Ren, and Snoke talking about someone powerful in the Force waking up, Rey having the Force vision when she touched Luke/Vader's saber, Rey reversing Ren's Telepathic probe, Rey utilizing Force Mind Control. There's more evidence pointing to Rey being way stronger in the Force than she realized than not.

As for TCW and Rebels, why? That's canon. That's perfectly viable source material. Not to mention the dozens of cases in Legends canon where Force users let the Force flow through them to amp their abilities. Battle Meditation, Oneness with the Force, etc, etc. There are so many cases in the books, comics, shows, video games to back up this explanation.

And in a lot of cases it is like a "goddamn anime powerup". Jacen, Reven, Anakin, Luke. When they've let the Force flow through them unrelenting they have become nothing short of Godlike. Now obviously Rey's case was no where near that level, but it was sufficient to grant her the intuition on how to use the lightsaber to overpower a significantly weakened Ren.

You're kind of correct. Staff combat does not directly translate into sword combat. Which is why Rey was thrusting at first. The same sort of motion you'd expect with a staff. But the generic martial techniques are similar enough. And plus, if Finn could use the saber semi-competently, Rey would have no issue what-so-ever. Finn is a non-Force sensitive who excels in blaster weaponry. Rey is a powerful Force sensitive who excels in martial weaponry.

And again, her form didn't have to be pristine. Ren was on a downhill slope from the very start of the battle. He was constantly getting weaker and weaker and weaker as the fight dragged on. He was combating both Rey AND Time. As he lost more and more blood he was getting more and more fatigued. His own prowess with a saber was diminishing while Rey's power was rapidly unlocking.

And what stuff? You said it didn't make any sense that Ren lost a lightsaber fight. I was citing reasons for it.

Rey was losing badly up until he had her cornered at that chasm. Rey's "second wind" that took place there was, in fact, her awakening the Force inside her. Thus the title of the movie and the event Snoke was telling Ren and Hux. Do you know what the Force does? It guides people. Rey's skill and intuition and power fucktupled when she unlocked her Force potential. The Force guided her actions through the fight. There are loads of times that has happened in the series primarily in Rebels and TCW (with both Ahsoka and Ezra; more so with Ezra). It's my personal opinion that she entered a sort of demi-battle meditation.

You'll remember that she didn't get her boost until after Ren told her that she could use the Force. She then closed her eyes and concentrated. Then BOOM! She had the Force surge through he like a storm and she overpowered the heavily damaged Ren.

And don't forget where I pointed out Rey has extensive personal training in martial weapons. Yes lightsabers require tremendous skill for a non-Force user to wield, but Rey is an incredibly POWERFUL Force user with combat training. She very obviously knows how to utilize her staff with impressive skill.

Ren is the same way. He's an incredibly powerful Force user with combat training, but his training is explicitly incomplete. He never finished with Luke and Snoke says at the end, flat out, that Ren's skill is lacking and required refinement. Since Luke left, Ren has never fought against anyone that could challenge him. He's an attack dog, not a Sith. What happens the first time in years that he comes against an equally powerful opponent? He gets his teeth kicked in.

And again, that wasn't just due to skill on either party's part. Ren was so fucked up it's not funny. He had a whole where his left kidney should be, was dealing with significant blood loss, dealing with psychological issues drawn from killing his father, and he explicitly wasn't trying to kill her.

I agree with everything you said and just to add to the end, nobody considers the fact that Rey knows how to use a melee weapon. She had one, and we've seen her use it for self-defense on her own planet. If she wasn't proficient with it at the very least then why the hell would she carry it with her literally everywhere she goes. There's bound to be some transfer between that and lightsaber usage.
