I would like to introduce you to Father Georges Lemaître. He was a Catholic Priest, Physicist, and Astronomer. He also developed the Big Bang theory. This theory, from its onset, did not meet meet much resistance in the Catholic Church, and it was not because he was a part of it.

He was friends with this one German Physicist. Father Georges Lemaître had tried to convince this particular physicist of his Big Bang Theory, but the physicist didn't think it was possible. After much discussion in philosophy, mathematics, and astronomy, Father Georges Lemaître finally convinced him that his Big Bang Theory might have some sort of possible validity.

That physicists name? Albert Einstein.

Catholics are certainly not anti-science, nor is this anything new. In addition, the Big Bang Theory does not preclude God.

Funny how the bibles account of creation is wrong.

Fuck catholics. Maybe they are not anti-science, when their agenda starts falling apart, unless they accept some science, but they have always been anti-progress!!!! Always.

With embryonic stem cell research and cloning, it's more for moral reasons than anti-science and there are a lot of atheists who oppose them too. Don't think the Catholic Church opposes DNA research.

Then don't mix them.
This is trying to show how "wealthy" fat people are compared to starving third worlders.
THAT'S IDIOTIC. It's as saying how educated illiterate ghetto children are compared to third worlders. You are just hiding issues and it's useless.
Real wealth does not make you fat. "having access to junk food" makes you fat, and in a society like western ones, the ones that are more exposed to it are the poor.

But in a first world country, wealth is so vastly abundant and overflowing that even the most desperately poor person who is unemployed and homeless can still manage to get enough money by begging for spare change that they can buy a loaf of bread at least once per week which is more food than many entire families in the third world have to share between them.

The point still stands that even the poorest person in all of western civilization is rich beyond the wildest dreams of a substantial portion of the worlds population who not only do not have the ability to become fat but face the real and imminent danger of death by lack of food.

Imcome disparity and the challenges it presents is a serious problem, but putting that into perspective is still not wrong.

Hey, i'm not on their side, but you gotta admit that there are understandable reasons for their problems. Being wealthy makes you have more things to care about, one of them is how you look and how healthy you are.
When you do not have that, your priorities are different.

And let's not start with a lot of other factors, like education, economy, genetics, society, etc.

None of that detracts from the point of the content though. We have established that these poor people you are talking about are fully capable of getting enough to eat. They may be struggling to meet their other needs such as shelter, but they are in no immediate danger of starvation.

Meanwhile there are people who are not able to get access to food at all and could very likely die from that fact. Wealth is a relative term and even the people you consider poor by first world standards are vastly more wealthy than people in the third world who truly have nothing and no means of getting anything.

No amount of excuses for why they are fat or social movements to destigmatize that fact changes the fact that it is only possible for them to get that way because of how much better off they are then others.

What i say about "regulate" means what you said, they cook less, etc.
But yeah, when your life sucks, one of the only thing that helps you make it to the end of the day is eating something tasty, and that's usually not healthy.

"It helps me get through the day" is the same excuse alcoholics use to justify their bad decisions.

I'm aware that being poor sucks, but that doesn't change the fact that poor people are entirely in control of their decision to either run away from their problems by drowning their sorrows in their drug of choice or dust themselves off and soldier on without adding an addiction to their already long list of problems.
