Some of the most skillful and intellectual people I have met are terrible at math. They learned the basics of it to get through life and went through with doing with what they are doing.
Myself? I hate math - why? Because I never learned new concepts that well in regards to mathematics due to the fact I was never really taught critical thinking in regards to the subject. The education system never did me so well, we had access to calculators and teachers that taught memorization techniques for standardized bubbling rather than critical thinking processes and understanding purpose.
When I do get time though, I still study some new concepts and try to understand them to the best of my abilities - because math is very interesting and integral to many applications . . . if not all.

This is really only the set up to solving an equation.
This is a way to solve an integral (an integral is basically finding an equation for which the equation in question represents the curve).
Ln(x) would be a part of the integral, and then somebody has just set ln(x) equal to U, and DU means the derivative (a derivative is the equation which describes the equation in question's curve) of U, which is worked out to be 1/x due to some basic rules of derivation.
The next line says that DV is to be set to x^5, meaning that x^5 is the derivative of V. Therefore, V is the integral of X^5, which equals (x^6)/6, which is again pretty basic to deduce.
Unfortunately this isn't anywhere near a complete problem, being that what's shown doesn't mean much or solve anything. The second line should really just say "and" instead of "so", being that it's just describing an equivalency the same way the first line is.
What's shown would be used when ln(x) and x^5 are part of an integral given and to be solved. Then you would use an equation: i don't remember exactly, but it's something like "U*V minus the integral of V DU", and this would be equivalent to the original integral (which is proven by some pretty tricky calculus, but is true nonetheless).
Sorry if this was wordy or complicated, I've never really done this kind of thing before, and it's pretty late, but I hope this is at least somewhat comprehensible and will give you a slight understanding of what calculus is.
Also, this is relatively advanced calculus (like calc 2 stuff) so if you don't get it from my hasty and likely illegible internet response, don't sweat it.
The really important ideas of calculus is understanding what integrals and derivatives are, which I hope I've explained somewhat well here in the parentheses.
