A STATE ID is required at every FFL sale for the background check, that is not a corresponding license to a firearm.
U.S. millitary rifles in semi automatic configurations do NOT require a special license to be purchased by a citizen if the gov. is selling them off (which is why you see "surplus" store around military bases), it's excess (surplus).
Now if you are saying the rifle in the picture is a full auto rifle, then you have to get a CLASS 3 ATF license to legally own said full auto weapon, but the military tends to destroy their full auto's or re-task them, not sell them to us.
The two above rifles look like old military surplus, maybe, and they are most likely semi auto and would not require a special license to own them. If you really have to have a license to own those in your state, I'm sorry but you guys are being lied to just to get more money out of you and keep track of what you own (an infringement on 2nd A. and 4th A.) and I am sorry if that is the case.

That's the bit that does not make sense... why do you ever need a license per long gun? what is the point in individual licenses for each one? it makes no sense. also to have to get another separate license for a pistol is pretty fucked up too. hope your state comes to it's senses soon and stops infringing on your guy's right.
Here, as soon as your 18, go down pick out a rifle, do a background check (takes like 15-20 minutes), if you pass you pay the dealer, and off you go.
same with a pistol when your 21, except that if you do not have your concealed pistol license you have to wait 5 days before you can take the gun home (something to do with local sheriff needing to sign the paperwork). but when you have a CPL he has already signed on that license and you can buy the gun and walk out with it (granted the background check passes (they do one with every sale, as law dictates)).
and private sale is private sale... lol.
So we have a lack of registration and licensing here, since it's unconstitutional, which is why I have such a hard time seeing why it is needed.
User avatar #185 - CatholicPriest (10/03/2013) [-]
Well a Drivers Licence is usually needed for ID, and most former US Military rifles (Like a couple in the last picture) require a licence that's recognized by the US Government to own them.

Oh, you must live in a strict state then. I don't know of anywhere off hand (besides NYC and chicago) that you need a license for you weapon. I have a range in my backyard (It's rural, and legal) So when I do happen to have ammo, I train, a lot. that's about it. I conceal carry pistols, tend to gravitate towards pistols, and train to keep up my skill level in case I ever needed it for defense.
#173 - CatholicPriest (10/03/2013) [-]
Well Kansas requires a hunting licence to hunt "Legally", and most of the "Preppers" that i know have licences for their rifles, mostly that use 5.56 and 7.62 round( Pic includes some guns owned by one of my "Prepper" friends)( They own proper Licence for each of them). Pistols also require a licence to be owned "Legally" here.

I would train more but the 90 mile drive to and back from the nearest store that sells ammo, kills my '89 car( which eats up most of my money).

I don't claim to know ieverything(even an extensive knowledge) about this stuff , but god do i try.

i find this offensive. lol I don't have a hunting license, and am not a "prepper" but i have a few pistols and rifles, and I'd help.
#166 - CatholicPriest (10/03/2013) [-]
Well Hunting licences require Experience, most Americans with hunting licences hunt for food not sport, so they have a bit of training and have more determination (More dangerous than the common man, also the number of them of which i knew off-hand). "Preppers" are usually equipped with either alot of ranged weapons and some ammo for all of them, or some weapons and alot of ammo(sometimes alot of both), also dangerous considering they also earned licences for the weapons, have a considerable stockpile, and determined to protect their way of life. They stand more of a chance against invaders than us non"preppers"and non-hunters, so i didn't list the faction that we belong in.

I'm sorry that I offended you. I only own 1 gun. It's a .22LR pistol(same pistol in the picture), and no, i do not have a hunting licence(squirrels and rabbits beware if i did own one) . I would also fight, if it's with just a stick, even with less than a 0% chance of survival.
