Who did the majority of the soldiers think they were killing the innocent men and women for? They sure as hell didn't think they were conquering the people for gold and conquest even thought they did that anyways. They thought that if they went and fought for God and the pope they would get a straight invitation to heaven. When they claimed the land indeed the Knights Templar and such did abuse the land for wealth and power. But.. they did it in god's name. My point being is that you have people that believe in these religions and are so fanatical they will do anything as long as it's in gods name. | ||

Killing the innocence of jerusalem simply because they didn't let pilgrims into certain sectors of the city.
