You can drink at twelve in Washington state on owned property with the owners and your parents approval. The laws for drinking differ state to state, but most of the time its legal at around age fourteen. Have I rustled your jimmies?

That doesn't apply. Religion in churches only works for christians. I'm not christian and unless my partner in the future turns out to be I don't plan on marrying in a church. I won't be segregated for it though.

1. Marriages don't happen only in churches, religion is outdated by marriage
2. Civil parterships for gay couples are banned, like, almost everywhere in backwards fucking America.
#109 - penhook (06/03/2012) [-]
actually thats wrong. marriage is an idealogy that is explicitly linked to religion. i dont know where everyone keeps getting the idea that marriage and religion are not related.
User avatar #663 - graphically (06/03/2012) [-]
Well, you do remember the whole "separation of church and state" thing right? Pretty important part of our constitution. Well, if you want marriage to remain a solely religious institution, then it'd only be right if all marriages lost all special privledges they now have in the eyes of the law, and that they should be completely disregarded on a legal standpoint on all fronts.

But, since that's not how marriage is treated, then it is to be seen as a state institution and as a state institution, it should be expected to adhere to the same standards as all other state institutes, and last I check, bias segregation isn't something that should exist within a state institute.
