Science says no it doesn't because it is impossible to perceive with our 5 senses, just like god. However, god and the soul are different. Main difference, he/she is supposedly running the whole show. This text supplies that the soul isn't in you, it's in this other world; being reincarnated until Ragnarok. Now, while it's easy to say God doesn't exist, because there are a lot of beliefs in what he/she controls, and each one can be disproved. However there is very little room to argue with the soul. It might exist in this other world, or it might be an atom inside you

To continue. The soul has very little room to work with because there are no rules with it, meaning that it conforms to everything you do and think. If it were written on your soul that you'd never eat beef, and that's implying that someone knew that, you could easily disprove that, and thus the existence of the soul. But it's not that easy. The soul might be, as the text suggests, in another realm entirely. Or, it might be something smaller than an atom deep in our bodies. For all we know, the stars themselves could be the souls of humans. To say that the soul exists would be wishful thinking, but to say that it didn't because there's no evidence that it does, is just ignorant. Like an man on death's row trying to shake his fears.

You're assuming to much of atheism. Everyone is piling it all into this one block of cement: No god, No soul, No nothing. Basically yeah, that's what it is. But that's not the root of it. Atheism is the belief that these things don't exist because it's impossible to prove they do. What separates that from the agnostics is that agnostics say maybe, while atheists say no. I'm atheist because I'm convinced there is no god. However the reason for atheism is to put your beliefs in something that can be proven: science. (most) Scientists will tell you (unless you're in a public school) that there is no proof of god. I'm convinced. However, the soul is a different story. Where would you begin to look? What rules does it follow that make it wrong?

If it was set in stone that the soul had to follow A,B, and C. Take A,B, and C apart and figure out if that's fact of fault. Atheism isn't the belief that there is no god just cause someone says so. It's the belief that there is no god because it can all be taken apart and disproved. I say belief, even though it isn't. There really is no other word for it. But atheism isn't a belief, you're not tied to it, you don't have to defend it. It's just something that fits. It's not a rulebook, you don't even have to acknowledge it; it's just a word that means that there is no presence of a supernatural deity in this world, that we can prove the existence of. It's as easy to not believe in god as it is TO believe. I for one think it might be correct
