Damn, forgot about the Invader.. so many gibson bolt-ons man.. they were cool. The thing I'm liking about these is that I'm seeing the action way low, this sweetens the deal for me. Like they're meant for metal. I just like the Sonex's look the best. It's weird but not too so. It was either this or a Harmony or Hondo etc. LP copy.. but hell for the same price you can get a genuine Gibby. :P

Something else I'd probably do is get an Epiphone Les Paul or any japanese LP clone... Just like Euronymous. :P

I think he had a legit Les Paul. Gibsons were relatively cheap at the time. He also had a Marshall Plexi and JCM800.

Thats a Marshall Artist 3203. SS preamp, 30 - 40W tube power amp. Came out in the mid-80s. They're supposed to sound fuzzy-ish, and with something like a taiwanese Boss HM-2 pushing it, you'll get black metal no problem. :P

Some other amps to check out are the Ampeg VH140C, Crate GX130C, and the Marshall 8100. They can get brutal on their own.

That's a Marshall Mosfet, not a Marshall Artist. It's fully SS and 100W. It's supposed to sound almost identical to a JCM800 and is considered one of the best sounding SS amps.

Well the 800 was around for black metal and long before it, so we ought to be okay with it right? I mean the ****** 250 bucks, you cannot go wrong >_>

Should be. The amp was made between 1986 - 1991. With a ****** distortion pedal you should be able to do black metal no problem.

All of this record was done with a Boss HM-2. It's THE Swedish Death Metal tone. I also think Burzum used one. I'd prefer it over the HM-3, but they're usually more expensive and harder to find.

Also, for a cab, just look for an old Peavey cab or the old 70's Ampeg V412.

The squiers are built a little blockier, and IMO they play better than the fenders. I have no idea why but oddball squiers are always amazing, I'd do that really. Then add the pre-amp yourself if you feel the need. Plus the purple finish, purple are coolest, ja? o.o

Well if I get a Fender one, I can just go at it with some Krylon, or if I wanna be flashy, some Duplicolor metal specs purple. :P

I might also consider the Jackson concert 4 string. The classic Ellefson version, not the curvy one. I was considering the 5-string version, but I really want a 5 string with narrow string spacing and a 35'' neck, which is why the Schecters look cool.

I was looking at the Ellefson version the entire time, which is set up pretty much like a traditional 5-string bass, with a 34'' neck and 21 frets.

I'm wanting just to upgrade my dean bass, throw an EMG in it and some heavier strings. Plus down the line, since I don't have my douglas anymore, find another vintagy bass. I'm thinking this:

Don't want just the head, I want that cab too, I mean REALLY great sound from it. Like you could tell with some distortion through it this thing would obliterate everything. Of course these people are a little older and they don't like metal, so again this is why I want my own, to do these things with it. You can find some used 2x10s for uber cheap online. Peavey makes one for $200 and you can probably find an old Hartke or SWR cab for really cheap.

Oh I know, but I just kinda tend to brag on things I've used before. Most music stores won't let you demo a guitar through a bass cab, and I don't get to. So this one feels really special in the moment. I might find a smaller version of it, or a used one. I just want that one. Plus I've found my sound through the little Smokey amp and the Fish and Chips with the gain boost all the way up. That's what this is really for, is a thickener for the Smokey XD

And I just did some reaing... Apparnently Fender pickguards don't fit Squiers.

Also, try to find a 4x10 bass cab. Basses make use of more speakers than guitars do. Since I'm going to use a PA speaker, I might just try to find a used bass DI distortion box like a MXR M-80 or a Sansamp bass driver.

I don't want a cab though, I want the combo because of the preamp and the volume control. Because the a 0.5 watt smokey amp with 16 of clean gain added driving a bass cab with no volume control would be ******* terrifying.. It needs some restriction :P

Nonono, you've completely missed this. This is a guitar rig, I just use bass cabs because the bottom end sounds better. And I like combos because the "head" generally is really loud going straight in, and sounds very bland. So volume control and EQ are very important. Plus on a bass amp, you can screw with in-between frequencies like low and high mids. So you generally get the sound you're looking for whatever it is. :P

You must have been using some really ****** guitar cabs if you're resorting to using bass cabs. :P

I already do that man, costs like 5 bucks to make like a 25 foot cable, the main cost is the jacks. They last pretty good too, and when they break up just snip off an inch or two at the ends and re-solder it and it's good as new. :3

I was gonna try to buy some stuff from Redco; Neutrik plugs and Redco cable. Costs like 50 cents per foot and $2 - $4 per plug.

Plus, oscillating sanders are better for removing paint finishes, apparently.

I prop mine up behind the door when I fap because I don't have a lock. The result of my guitars falling has helped them age and has saved me lots of explaining. Plus yeah, I only have one stand and its a piece of garbage from the late 70's >_>

I plan on either getting wall mounts or seeing if I can buy a multi guitar stand. GFS sells a sturdy looking one for a good price.\

Just make sure you do the wall mounts right the first time, the screws are really cheap. If you gotta take them out for any reason it will strip or snap. I had a few >_>

If you can find a Carvin cab, jump on it. They're usually loaded with Celestions.

Well the Peaveys rely mostly on preamp overdrive, so they can be ran pretty low. As well as the Rocktron preamp in the rack. Not sure about the Diezel. :P

Me, I've gone back to Eastwood. Gonna try a Stormbird after hearing how good it sounded on youtube reviews. It's like the only basswood guitar I'd buy right now :P
