minimum wage is $7.50 an hour, they can't get paid 2 dollars an hour.
Unless you're not talking about America.

As long as their tips equal up to minimum wage when added to their salary, it's legal.
If they don't get tipped enough to equal minimum wage their employer is required to make up the difference.

So in other words, not tipping does NOT mean they don't get paid. It allows friendly service to make them make extra, however. It's where they see their attitude and how well they do their job actually pay off.

Yes they can lol. Take Steak and Shake for example. Their starting wage for a waiter/waitress is $1.70/hr. After they serve a customer, they take the tip and deposit it. At the end of the day the Manager takes the deposit and splits it up between all the waiters that worked that day, using a formula depending on how long they worked, what shift they worked, etc. Then that goes into their paycheck. On an average weekday I made about $10-$11/hr, which was okay pay for not hard work and being in highschool. But when I worked the graveyard shift, I was the only waiter and had regular customers who came in at like 3am, that always tipped me like $15 or $20 dollars. Being the only waiter that shift, it all went to me. And just an FYI, certain places are allowed to pay people less than minimum wage depending on how much their net profit,is ,i.e Places that are opening up, and have workers just setting things up but the store not actually being open. The only time I've ever heard of it was at a movie theater.

Actually, minimum wage for waiters and waitresses in the US is about 4.50 an hour, provided that their tips make up the difference.

That's what the law says, anyways.

I work for Shoney's. Our pay rate is 2.13 an hour. |:

hmm. i did not know that.
User avatar #85 - kerfufflemachtwo (11/13/2012) [-]
Of course, most of them don't get enough tips, so they end up getting less than minimum wage. Which sucks.

You sound like a know-it-all ass hat. To use your own words, you have to keep in mind that a fence is a flat surface like a sail, which catches the wind. And I can guarantee that however far that fence was in the ground, that tree was deeper.

I'm just telling you how it is dude lol. The height, weight, and wind-catchy-ness of the tree greatly out matches that of the fence. You can take it however you want, that's just my explanation.

Not all fences are like that. Hardly any wooden fences are like that. The supports are, but not every board. And the fence isn't even wavering.
User avatar #15 - BunnyStew (11/11/2012) [-]
No shit that the planks aren't sunk into the ground, but every six feet those 4x4 are sunk, and most likely in about 2 feet of concrete. You've got to keep in mind that the fence is much lower to the ground, and doesn't have a huge top catching the force like the tree does. The tree has gravity working against it. Once it's past a certain point, it's just a matter of time time before physics takes it toll. I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all asshat, but if you've ever raised a decent fence, you'd understand it's structural integrity.
