to be fair that was only shown in the prequels, original trilogy Luke just does like a week of summer camp with Yoda and goes to kill Vader. The whole jedi temple in the middle of a metropolitan area never really made sense with the original mythology

it was ok with the lightsaber thing because ren was wounded(which in my opinion they did very nicely for the fight so it was "even"), but regarding the mind trick shit - that was too much...

meh, i think the problem isnt her being a mary sue but some new concept of the force where you get that shit fast naturally and everyone with the force instantly knows about and how to perform mind tricks and moving shit and so on.
in ep I - VI it had to be learned and trained...

Well, I have a theory about this. Rey was trained by Luke, but was brainwashed and sent to Jakku to protect her. Her training with Luke is why she can use mind control and is quite proficient with the lightsaber already. This is also why she's always trying to return to Jakku, because Luke has brainwashed her and is trying to keep tabs on her.

Why keep mentioning her being left there if it isn't relevant for the plot? Luke cries when he sees her, not knowing if his daughter was dead or alive.

Just a theory though.

1.) PUT THAT SHIT IN SPOILERS, dont wanna piss off those pretend-to-be fans that still didn't watch the movie

2.) nah, i dont think there is such a big problem with using lightsabers without the force. ren was kinda a force newb AND he was wounded, so it is all kinda k, especially if she kinda learns some stuff on the go in the fight. as for the background, i dont like the idea that luke ditched her mid training, and brainwashing would be a really shitty excuse!
