Cisgendered is the opposite of transgendered. It's pretty much someone who identifies with their biological gender; a man who's biologically a man or a woman who's biologically a woman.

Libertarian philosophy does not imply personal freedom to the point of allowing people to hurt others. It does as you have mentioned.
#81 - Blasphemer (04/21/2014) [-]
I don't know, I just went by information provided by sursum.
I didn't make my ultimate conclusion about libertarians, I simply expressed my opinion towards: "Personal freedoms over absolutely everything else"

Yes we need laws saying don't steal shit and don't kill people etc.

What we don't need are laws saying you can't marry this person, you can't smoke this, you can't buy that etc. Make your own damn life choices.
#130 - anonymous (04/21/2014) [-]

Corporate regulations

No, you can't marry that horse.
No, you can't smoke the cig made out of the paper shreds of U.S. constitution.
No, you can't buy 25 tons of tnt for "personal use".

Some actually do make sense, ya know?
#77 - anonymous (04/21/2014) [-]
You can't pay people in company scrip. You can't force people to live in a company town. You can't make people work in extremely unsafe environments. You can't dump toxic pollution all over. You can't choose to serve only whites at your diner. You can't require 100 hour work weeks. You can't discipline your employees with beatings. You can't sell cat food as people food. You can't sell sugar pills as medicine. You can't practice indentured servitude.

Libertarians use the language of personal freedom to defend a feudal oligarchy where your rights are exactly equal to your wealth, and those born poor have nothing but the right to serve.

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread."
User avatar #79 - sursum (04/21/2014) [-]
Libertarians don't argue for personal freedom to the extent where it is lawful to harm others. The ethos of libertarianism has always been to allow the free decisions of us as individuals while providing it in a framework so as it cannot hurt your fellow citizens. Thus the vast majority of what you just said is absolutely false.
#82 - anonymous (04/21/2014) [-]
You're wrong. Libertarians, including Ron and Rand Paul, have EXACTLY argued that whites should be allowed under their libertarian system of government to organize together and refuse to serve black customers, and that the Civil Rights act should be repealed, because it violates the 'freedom' of white business owners to discriminate against minorities. Libertarians oppose minimum wage laws, workplace safety regulations, and labor standards in general under the ludicrous argument that if employees don't want to be exploited they don't have to work. Libertarians oppose all environmental laws that can't be mediated as property disputes between landowners.

Some libertarian positions are attractive but fundamentally libertarianism is utterly malign and would curtail the actual, practical freedom of the vast majority of people.
#98 - anonymous (04/21/2014) [-]
I don't see how nonviolence can curtail freedom.
#103 - anonymous (04/21/2014) [-]
Tell it to the black folk in the apartheid south before the civil rights act.
User avatar #94 - lean (04/21/2014) [-]
No. You apparently lack the basic understandings of how the free market is supposed to work. Any law specifically geared towards one group of people, even with good intentions, is biased and unconstitutional.
The only way that has ever been discovered to have a lot of people cooperate together voluntarily is through the free market. And that's why it's so essential to preserving individual freedom.
#101 - anonymous (04/21/2014) [-]
And you apparently lack the basic understanding of how markets actually DO work. Unregulated markets inevitably lead to dysfunction, exploitation and misery.

The state didn't just decide out of the blue one day to introduce regulations like workplace safety and minimum wage laws. It happened because the vast majority was suffering terribly, exploited by monopoly rentiers because of their asymmetric bargaining power. This vast majority banded together as a voting block, thanks to our DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT (the actual "only way that has ever been discovered to have a lot of people cooperate together voluntarily") to improve all of our lives.

It's telling that the Libertarian "party of freedom" stands in opposition to the actual and most important freedom our founding fathers fought for: democratic self-government.
User avatar #110 - lean (04/21/2014) [-]
And now the only monopolies are state run and state funded. Look at the education system here in America. Look at the welfare system. Look at Union Labor in large cities like Chicago. Coming soon, look at healthcare. These are all monopolies in one aspect or another, government sponsored and influenced, and they are either failing or taking advantage of the people. Tell me again how your government solutions makes things better.
You can tell a lot about the freedom of an economy by the size of its black market, and US has the largest black market in the world.

The government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem.
#132 - anonymous (04/21/2014) [-]
Just because the USA can't get it to work, look over the pond and you will see a magnificent example of how a mixed-market works well.

The market must be regulated to avoid exploitation, the type of which happen to this day. Don't be naive, humans will NOT inherently do the right things when i comes the market. Most corporations WILL do as much as they can to maximize their income and minimize their losses. This includes screwing consumers and employees. And they are able to do so in the current system. What happens if you loosen it up even more?
User avatar #134 - lean (04/21/2014) [-]
Libertarians also seek to remove corporations and tax exempt status. Everyone uses Scandinavia as a successful mixed socialist market example, while overlooking that in the private sector of their economy there is virtually no government interference.
The most important single central fact about a free market is that no exchange takes place unless both parties benefit. Most economic fallacies derive from the tendency to assume that there is a fixed pie, that one party can gain only at the expense of another.

sharia law can be very unforgiving for lack of better terms. basicly if we embraced and allowed sharia law men could behead their wives legally. i dont know exactly how it works but it is very discriminotory to woman
#352 - Blasphemer (04/20/2014) [-]
Someone on FJ has been pointing out quite few times that sharia law is more of a wishful thinking and that there are dozen of versions of it, some extremely primitive and painful to even hear, and some hippie versions of it...

At no point have I stated that I would force the government to practice religious laws, which are, for lack of better terms, flawed.
