It seems more like you want the show that lasts one episode, where a guy tries to shoot a ghost with a shotgun and then dies horribly because why would he ever win? That wouldn't really make for a good TV show.

Example of a bad story: Guy fights thing, guy does something incredibly stupid, a consequence is about to happen, guy miraculously saves the day. This happens every other episode.

Example of a good story: Group of guys fight thing, thing rips ass but has flaws people can exploit, main guy uses the group to exploit this. Main dude's best agent is used as bait because he doesn't have the skills necessary to pull off the plan. Best agent gets captured, killed, but the plan is executed and the thing is killed. There are casualties, the main dude never recovers and still has nightmares about it seasons later, however pulls through and doesn't do stupid shit because "muh angst"

Supernatural has good acting and the potential for a great story, but its repetitive, shit writing completely ruins it.

They have died, numerous times. Dean hit triple digits in one episode I think.

They have died a lot though. Season 1 Dean gets electrocuted and is only saved because someone has shackled a reaper Season 2 Sam dies, Dean resurrects him, Season 3 Dean dies and an angel resurrects him in season 4. In season 5 they find out they have died dozens of times this season but each time God has put them back and wiped their memories of the event

you do realize that lots of the bad people tried that, right? just killing them immediately. then they get killed by the person they were trying to kill.
my theory is the brothers were created by god specifically to correct his mistakes and that he has been helping them all along.
#76 - thegentlemanrogue (12/08/2015) [-]
My theory is that the brothers are nephalim(half angel/half human). Not only does it explain how they survive all that shit but if they were in fact sons of an angel than it would go to some extent to have a better explanation for how distant John winchester is. They aren't his real kids but are all that is left of his wife.

#103 - mastercolossus (12/08/2015) [-]
no they are not nephalim. angels can sense that plus both parents were human. also one of them used to drink demon blood and gained psychic powers from it.
#107 - thegentlemanrogue (12/08/2015) [-]
I'm saying the John may not have been their real father. We also don't know whether angels could sense it as nephalim haven't been talked about. Also we know angels can be experimented on. It would explain why yellow eyes favored sam. A nephalim rather than just a human would be a better general of his army.
User avatar
#108 - mastercolossus (12/08/2015) [-]
yes they have been talked about.
refer to the spell that kicked angels out of heaven.
nephalims have great unnatural strength.
sam merely got psychic powers that went away when he stopped drinking demon blood.

Pro hunters...of demons, rogue angels, gods, and other shit that is way stronger, faster, and older than they are.

The fact that they're not dead is a feat in and of itself.

it's been said in the show that they've died and brought back to life countless times in the show, they just dont remember it
#34 - Blasphemer (12/07/2015) [-]
Oh yea, that's the funniest thing in the show. They should've been dead 3 millions times by now but they were always miraculously saved in the very last moment or their enemy was to busy explaining how evil they are instead of just fucking slitting their throats and getting it over with. Not to mention those two fuckers died more often than fucking Krillin. And they just go: lol, nope, we back on, cuz I said so.

I know they have to make it interesting, but they go to ridiculous amounts of stupid in this show.

Well, they do fuck up on a grand scale at the end of every season because that's the only way the writers know how to advance the plot.

Season ends with brothers doing something that (they think) is necessary to defeat Evil Thing.
Next season starts some time later, with problems due to their past actions defeating Evil Thing.
Problems throughout season are due to what they did to defeat Evil Thing.
At end of season, they do what they think is necessary to defeat Evil Thing, releasing Other Evil Thing.

And so on.
#30 - Blasphemer (12/07/2015) [-]
Current season:

ep 1: Holy shit! World at end! Everything is going to get fucked!
ep 2: Oh... like... zombies n shit??
ep 3: Nah, just couple of zombies, rest of them died I guess...
ep 4: OMFG they killed SAM! You bastards!
ep 4: All chill, we can go like ghost huntin n stuff...
