I'm pretty sure most of the generous estimates on how many kanji there are still give them at maximum about 100k.

Every syllable has its own sign. They really have that much - approx 200-300k, but in real life they usually use only 100.
User avatar #64 - emiyashirou (09/10/2014) [-]
I checked this with multiple sources, the average Chinese university graduate knows 5000-6000 kanji, and none of the sources I could find give any estimations for the total amount that are higher than 100k.

The things the Vatican say and do are directly reflected upon by a large amount of christian believers in Africa and South America, so while the Vatican isn't leading any army it is causing people to "take up arms" for their religion.

Its no Crusade but its still a big deal politically.

It's not I wrote this stuff.
But yes. I do believe modern education is flawed.
First of fall we should teach kids advanced maths and other languages at a young age.
English too of course.
Then science, social sciences, as they get older and learn to formulate ideas and philosophies about the world etc.

It would be nice to have it done in an ideal way, where everywhere learns what they need to know and can pursue what they want to know.
But as it is no one really knows much of anything.

And most of those years go to waste.
I speak from the perspective of U.S. schools. I went t like what? 12 of them?
5 high schools that I know for sure. One in Germany, the other in South Korea,
The rest of um in merica
#33 - Blasphemer (09/08/2014) [-]
Yes the system is flawed, but guess what: it's not really that old system.
We are adjusting.
50 years ago (blind guess don't quote me on this) number of educated people in world was at least 10 times smaller
Any education is better than no education, and so far by my experience it's solely up to you personally to make the best of what is thrown your way.

I'm in my second year of college, studying Construction Management, and we spent like a half hour in class the other day learning about right triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem.
This is for a class with Calc as a pre-req.

And furthermore from all the classes and topics to bitch about, whoever wrote this chose math... In age of technological and scientific advances and rapid increase in information technologies... Math was the obvious choice to declare "useless" in schools... Really?

If you have internet to bitch around, you are not that poor or underprivileged. Otherwise you could find a better use for those 50$ (is it 50 there?) per month.

I usually don't either BUT if you have medieval total war II and are a fan of lord of the rings, I strongly strongly recommend you get third age total war. Was 20x better than the original. Half the reason I'm even interested in RTW2 is because they are looking to make the same mod but with this game.
