Not sure how I managed to piss you off really. I acknowledged that I overlooked the fundamentals which means that I admitted my post was incorrect. I'm also not sure why you think I'm arrogant. I simply think schools should at least approach the topic of applying for jobs, filing taxes, financing and general life skills because that would benefit more of their students than calculus.

As for Calculus being the "most applied thing in entire world," I never use it so it isn't really applicable to me. That's essentially my point. I must learn calculus to advance in my degree which will never utilize this particular practice. I know that it is extremely important, but studying it won't help me at all. There are many classes that are required for a degree that do not apply to the field. It makes college more expensive without increasing the benefit. High school is designed to prep you for college, not life.

Please stop being so belligerent, it doesn't make you smarter than me to have a different opinion of school; it simply means we have different opinions.

Are you intentionally misreading my posts or just keep failing to understand what am I writing?

"I acknowledged that I overlooked the fundamentals which means that I admitted my post was incorrect." Yes, you did.

"I'm also not sure why you think I'm arrogant." I don't, I said your post was arrogant. It implies that just because you had grandparents who taught you how to read and write and you chose the career as pianist that nobody else really needs the things that are taught in school. Which is very wrong.

"I simply think schools should at least approach the topic of applying for jobs, filing taxes, financing and general life skills because that would benefit more of their students than calculus. " Well you are wrong again. In both highschool and college there were at least few occasion where we had to write a resume and job application as part of school tasks or projects. We even did that on english as well (english is not my mother tongue). And it's a God damn common sense that when you are applying for the job you don't send your application from mail: dirty.dicks@ gmail.com , don't use "cute" street talk, or try to be "cool" with da man. Just use your fucking common sense. If you can't deduct that much, just shoot yourself so humanity gets rid of some of the stupid. As for taxes: it takes about 30 god damn seconds to google a comprehensive and detailed simplified guide which can walk you trough it step by step. And that knowledge is pretty god damn useless since stuff like this always changes and varies from country to country.

Schools are not meant to teach an individual how to be successful in their career. I didn't even know what would I like to do for living until 2 years ago. And I feel pretty fucking lucky that math was something in school for me. Schools are meant to prepare general population for every possible career they might pursue as adults. So if that means I have to go trough fucking music class, I'll bite a bullet and go to that fucking class.

I didn't claim that "nobody else really needs the things that are taught in school." I overlooked that and admitted that I was wrong.

My high school didn't do the resume and application thing so we've got different experiences here. My school did nothing outside of core material and a handful of electives and they weren't taught very well. I have a very negative view of schools mostly because of how terrible mine was. I was suspended on my 3rd day there for eating breakfast in my car 30 minutes before class. They said I could have been smoking, even though they knew I wasn't.

"Schools are not meant to teach an individual to be successful in their career." High school isn't, but that's pretty much the point of college, and this is where I disagree with the approach. Preparing someone for every possible career is inefficient if he knows what career he wants already. It gets really tricky here, because all of those experiences are useful to someone who doesn't know, but for people like me who have a very clear picture of what they want, it doesn't help.

Finally, no i'm not misunderstanding you posts, we're having miscommunication somewhere along the line though. Your statements are more along the line of these teachings being useful to someone whereas I'm arguing that they aren't useful to everyone and people shouldn't be required to take such expensive classes if those classes aren't beneficial to their career. I also believe that schools should do a better job of preparing students for day to day life instead of just preparing them for college. Colleges should cut away unnecessary classes from some degree programs.

I've also had two English professors refuse to accept my work because they didn't like me personally. Long story, can't fit it in this post. But it is frustrating that this class that wont help me is required and that a teacher is allowed to fail me if she wants without even looking at my work. Education is executed poorly here.
#135 - Blasphemer (12/13/2014) [-]
Well that sucks for you. I didn't exactly go to best schools there are but i still think everything I went trough was beneficial for society around me even though I did have to go trough classes I have no interest in. I mean, junior and high school are meant to be just prep schools for college, which than teaches you about the profession you are interested in. I really do wish I could've picked my own classes and professors, but sadly, I don't get that chance. Probably because there weren't enough of professors for that kind of approach to begin with, nor there would be enough of financial support for college to be able to pay 20+ more professors and rooms just so everyone could pick classes...

I had shitty professors too but only one ever wanted to fail me because he thought I was lazy and have no knowledge of his subject. He was a cunt and he was so amusingly wrong, he even said to me that he's sorry to have to let me pass his subject. But one professor does not make the entire educational system imo. You will always have stupid cunts, in every profession. Wanna have a perfect system? Remove people from it.

I've amended my comment in response to ScottP, who was able to point out my obvious oversight more respectfully. As for naming one thing I was taught in school that I will never use (except in school): Calculus.

I've never attended a religious school and while my parents are religious, the preachers never really liked me because i was too "inquisitive" and i soon rejected religion.

Being a pianist has opened my eyes to one major issue of American education: Very few people graduate with any kind of specialization or practical ability that will help them in the workforce. I was fortunate enough to have a good Horn teacher, but I want to become a professor of Music and teaching is much more effective with a piano than a Horn. I've set myself back for years worth of practice for the benefit of future students, don't tell me I shouldn't talk about education.

Other than all of that, my grandparents own a daycare and I was raised by people that taught me to read and write so most of my time at public schools was redundant. That's why I overlooked the fundamentals as a benefit of public education.
#120 - Blasphemer (12/12/2014) [-]
No, you see, you've pissed me off with your first message and you keep pissing me off.

"As for naming one thing I was taught in school that I will never use (except in school): Calculus. " I never asked you to name the things you will never use, I asked you to appoint me to one fucking piece of information that COULDN'T BE APPLIED IN REAL LIFE as you so happily suggested in your original post. AND THAN you go on and name the MOST APPLIED THING IN ENTIRE WORLD.

"don't tell me I shouldn't talk about education." I've said and I'll say it again if you dare to repeat the same sentences you wrote in your original post. I've marked them up in my first reply to your arrogant pile of shit post.

You do know how many people are illiterate and how many of them have children who will never have a chance to achieve anything without education? Just because you were educated by your elders does not mean everyone could get the same.

It's bizarre. Do you think people outside gamergate only consider things to be from gamergate, when the hashtag is included? People see what kind of people you are, when they look at your gathering places. You are a pack of fucking assholes. The majority of you are fucking assholes. And I don't mean that as an insult, it's a clinical diagnosis, an unemotional observation.

This was the first comment ever made on topic of This bitch in question (Ms. WhatsHerName since I already forgot her name since she's not worth any attention at all ) I dare you to run trough my comments and find ONE FUCKING COMMENT remotely related to this bitch. I maybe made 3 comments all together about GG and they were mild and short.

I have no "group" or whatever the fuck you think is going on here. She IS fucking making shit up. Ever since Zeo bullshit started she started screaming "OHH OHH ME TOO ME TOO I M TOTTALLY GETTING HARRASED LOOK AT MEEE LOOOOK!" Nobody fucking knew who she was. And nobody would if she didn't pretend to be a victim. And even when she gained "fame" for her cries, nobody in except SJW cared. Because she's irrelevant. To anything. She never achieved anything. Do you need me to draw you a picture here?

- interactive book about depression
- plans on making a shittier copy of candy crush or something among those lines ya know, one of those games that have been squirted out so many times it's not even a game at this point, rather a concept tutorial for 5th graders trying to learn programming

When I was at school, I saw a emoey dude get his facial piercings ripped out (two on lips, one on nose, one on eyebrow) and then knocked out over a misunderstanding less sever than this. It took about four days for the janitors to get rid of all the blood because this incident happened at the top of a flight of stairs and it was just fucking everywhere.

Because of this incident, when people call throwing a man onto a fence "beating the shit out of him", I instantly think that these people must have never seen anything resembling a real fight in their lives.
User avatar #37 - jakeduck (11/29/2014) [-]
Holy shit, is there more to this story? I'm intrigued.
User avatar #69 - TheHutchie (11/30/2014) [-]
I'll call the emoey kid Steve and the guy that beat him up John. Not real names but whatever. Steve's not a small dude, and I don't think he's ever really qualified as an emo per se, but he had the long hair and the piercings and always wore black T-shirts with metal band logos on, so he was like an emo / metalhead dude. John grew up in a poor area, and was quick to anger, but a good laugh normally.

The odd thing is that both Steve and John are usually alright guys, but this was a special kind of disagreement.

John's younger brother had previously hid in an empty bin and jumped out at Steve, who assumed it was some little shit about to attack him, and threw the first punch, bursting the kid's nose. Later, John, with a friend, had confronted Steve about it. Steve quite calmly explained the situation, and even apologised, saying it was an accident. It was John's friend who made the situation worse. He accused Steve of purposely hitting someone much smaller than himself, to which he replied "So what if I fucking did?"

Apparently that was the wrong thing to say, and that's when John started attacking him. You know the rest.
User avatar #14 - demandsgayversion (11/29/2014) [-]
