Go watch some quake live footage. It's called drag shotting and if you're not doing it you're a scrub.

The replays are slightly off from the real gameplay and can sometimes make the aiming look just a bit too much like an aimbot.

It's referred to as flicking.

#26 - closotezuka (10/18/2016) [-]
it's legit, trust me. players are more used to flicking to the head, rather than gradually moving there accurately.
#22 - anon (10/18/2016) [-]
its the flick ya noob, clearly ya havent sniped on FPS before.
#12 - anon (10/18/2016) [-]
easy flick shots. Lot of snipers from counter strike 1.6 era and on have played this way for as long as they have used computers.

This is what >>#2 is talking about.

yeah, that's how the flick works, you ''flick'' the cursor in their direction and use well practices timing to shoot them at the point the cursor is at their head, because the cursor is moving so fast, if you freeze frame it, the barrel, or crosshairs in this case doesn't line up with their head. Plugin based aimbot demonstration

actual aimbot included for context

Overwatch is rampant with aimbots and cheaters and Blizzard doesn't have a clue how to stop even the most blatant ones.

Level 70ish here and yet to meet a single cheater. However, even if you meet cheaters Blizz wont ban them. They wait a few months and then ban everyone because then it'll be harder for the cheaters to work around the detection mechanisms. They do this in all Blizz games. Next ban wave shouldn't be too long now.

yeah they do, they permaban them instantly

I've played the game on the European server for 100+ hours now and have yet to encounter one cheater

I'm pretty sure it's flick shooting. I personally find it the easiest way to use Widowmaker and Hanzo. Some other heroes at time too like Pharah, Junkrat and S76's rocket.

in case you or someone else doesn't know what flick shooting is, it's when you have your aim away from your initial target and flick the crosshair to the desired location. I like this method mostly because when I snipe I tend to track someone for too long and end up either missing the chance or the shot all together so a flick just erases the over thinking process

That's goddamn cool. Didn't know that what I was doing even had a name, it just seemed like the most effective method of sniping to me.

He's talking about this, how she was not aiming at his head when it hit.

Every time I play against a sniper, or mcree I see that shit happen, on the kill cams it's so irritating. Their aim just quickly snapping perfectly to the headshots. Well, on a few, theres some I see miss multiple times. but others just snap right onto the peoples heads.

Flick shots are what separates a good Widow and a bad one. It trains your muscles to react quickly to a distance being able to lock on quicker than your scope can charge. Most non-Widow players just don't need to do that as much because they don't have one-shot potential.

It's fine when it's every once in a while, but even when you sneak up on them ,and their view just snaps over and perfect headshot, that's when it starts to get really questioning. Or when they at least miss a shot. But I've had some, card at the end said 100% critical hit accuracy.

I have done ridiculous snipes trying to widow like headshot a blinking Tracer or double headshots on a Winston diving me. It's just a matter of consistently practicing and like 98% luck.
User avatar
#16 - iziya (10/18/2016) [-]
I've pulled off crazy headshots like that too, but it's not a constant thing, my problem is when it's just every time. If there is actually a miss every once in a while no problem. But when it's just pure headshots.
User avatar
#17 - profdragon (10/18/2016) [-]
Taimou and Gods are the only ones who can mostly get headshots probably, so if its consistent the whole game, you're either playing with a pro's smurf, they're that good but don't want to get into pro gaming, or cheaters. Hacks exist, we just have to report and hope for the best of the devs.

I have, it's only those ones that irritate me, I know sometimes people can have moments where they are just dominating, I had one earlier, was just quickly popping headshots. But that was only for like a minute then I couldn't hit shit for the rest of the game.

snap to target, will automatically lock on head when crosshair is within X distance from head to make it less obvious
