No one ever gets full support for anything though, some wars do come close though.

Besides, not all secrets involve some nefarious plot, some are just as simple as not telling criminals what time they'll be patrolling, or some meetings of the sensitive nature between political opponents.

But yes you have a point in that they really need to stop using that contradictory phrase at us.

Pretty much, some of the more partisan Founding Fathers had a much worse view on their opponents, yet the Bill of Rights stood strong.

Although to give OP the benefit of the doubt, he only mentioned secrets, he didn't say anything about spying or violating an amendment.

Yeah but let's be honest, if the government is doing something with full support of the people and it doesn't violate the constitution or individual rights, they wont have any need for secrecy.
