We are great, we have made many accomplishments.

Had it not be for religion and people being so content to just get by then we would no doubt have discovered and invented more things.

I feel pride in what we are capable of, but disappointment in what we actually achieve. Yeah we have intense love, but we have intense hatred. I find it very hard to look past the sheer volume of unnecessary suffering that we cause and worse off remain mostly ignorant about. Earth is extremely over populated by humans. Winning? We're slowly destroying ourselves and our planet with our intelligence.

Of course. That's because we've adapted our environment to better suit our needs and desires. Pick any single man and put him in the amazon and he will die. Take 10, 20 of those, however, and your results most likely are going to vary. If we were to enter a new age where we had to go back to the old ways, we would survive.
#161 - glayn (04/23/2014) [-]
Are you actually retarded? I'm just curious. "we don't really live in a static "habitat" or coexist with wild animals." Do you actually think this means we're not part of the food chain? Are you really so dumb? We're part of the food chain dumbass. We're just the apex predator. Nothing preys on us because WE'RE SMART ENOUGH TO USE TOOLS. That's evolution for you. instead of having giant claws and teeth we have large brains. Nature isn't about some stupid set of morals you want to be right, it's about what lets a species survive and reproduce most effectively. Look out the god damn windows at the massive cities, infrastructure and population, we're a fucking marvel of natural success. And of course we're not the same humans who hunted woolly mammoths. We'd be a lot fucking better at it nowadays.

I made an account on this site just to tell you how naive you are, and sorry if I sound offensive, just sick of people who think humans are somehow unnatural because we're winning.

how dumb you feeble humans are. top of the food chain? how about parasites sucking your blood.
how about toxoplamosis (parasites from cats) that increases your likelihood to produce offspring and be unaware of dangers => better cat food.
you are so naive if you think humans would be top predators in the wild. you are bait.
the advantage of humans is that they have their second nature, called zivilisation, which creates a virtual room of safety. our advances through civilzation mean nothing in the natural world. we impose civilzation upon it. so no humans are not top predators.
they created another plane of the game through consciousness.

Obviously everything I said went over your head. We are in the wild. Our cities are the equivalent of an ants nest, houses the equivalence of birds nests, or does complexity make things unnatural to you? What hubris to claim we're not the top predators. Name an animal that can hunt humans and survive. Rabid dog? The dog's put down. Man-eating shark, tiger, rabid elephant, hell even a nest of hornets. They're all killed. We're so god damn advanced evolution-wise we can murder each other by the thousands and not endanger our survival.

Like I said. The name of the game is to survive and thrive. There's no stupid morals or high ground in nature, you either win or lose, survive as a species or become extinct, and looking at the situation anyone who isn't a complete dumb-ass can see we're winning. And before someone goes crying about nuclear war, Armageddon, whatever, who cares? Some humans will still survive, somewhere, and the species will go on, and we'll still be winning.

No, I'm sure we would be at the top spot. Humans used to coexist with wooly mammoths and they would hunt them.
User avatar #156 - AdamBaum (04/23/2014) [-]
What, privileged humans that cry when there is no internet or get their food from stores? The humans who fucked up wooly mammoths are not the same as the humans today. There was this 'fuck yeah humanity' thread screencapped about how humanity stabbed his best friend for a piece of bread, and how gritty and violent we are just to survive, yeah that was in the past, when every predator had their sights on us. You pluck an average human from cozy society and throw him in the amazon, chances are he/she will die.

you know.... ants don't have a nervous system advanced enough to feel pain
User avatar #258 - adak (04/23/2014) [-]
Well the way I see it, just because a more advanced race might look down on us doesn't mean we shouldn't feel good about our accomplishments or our strengths. That race must at some point have been where we are now, and we will probably at some point be the advanced race looking down on a primitive society.

And we always come out on top in the sci fi movies because no producing company would fund a script where humanity was eradicated/enslaved. Also you must be aware of the progress humanity has made despite being so "selfdestructive", we're not exactly living in caves anymore are we?
User avatar #220 - capslockrage (04/23/2014) [-]
>societies
They're fucking ants, the only reason they live is to make tunnels
User avatar #225 - AdamBaum (04/23/2014) [-]
With the sheltered, privileged human comes naivety.

Huge and tiny, an ant carries in her head multiple sensory organs to pick up chemical and visual signals vital to colonies that may contain a million or more workers, all of which are female. The brain contains half a million nerve cells; eyes are compound; antennae act as nose and fingertips. Projections below the mouth sense taste; hairs respond to touch.7

Even if we do not notice it, the ants have quite a different method of communication in virtue of their sensitive sensing organs. They employ these sense organs at every moment of their lives, from finding their prey to following each other, from building their nests to fighting. They have a communication system which astonishes us, as human beings with intellect, with their 500,000 nerve cells squeezed into their bodies of 2 or 3 millimetres. What we should keep in mind here is that the half a million nerve cells and the complex communication system mentioned above belongs to an ant which in bulk is almost one millionth of a human being.

We're fucking humans, the only reason modern humans live is for internet and comfort.

Every other species kill without remorse for coming onto their territory. Ant's underground passages are instinctual we had to figure that shit out on our own.

How do you know a more advanced race wouldn't think "Hey, bretty gud u guise" if we ever meet another race? Who are you to be the voice of other sentient lifeforms?
User avatar #141 - AdamBaum (04/23/2014) [-]
I'm just using my knowledge of history and imperialism and how humans behave towards each other. They'd probably crush us, but with the universe being infinite I'm sure there are advanced race that would look at us and thing "hey bretty gud u guise" but they'd probably be just like us. Probably not a good thing.
User avatar #121 - iizsimon (04/23/2014) [-]
Because we've destroyed each other in the race for progress and science. Undoubtedly, humans are the most intelligent creatures on this planet, as we're on top of the food chain. Also, you've answered your own question : sci-fi movies are movies.
User avatar #133 - AdamBaum (04/23/2014) [-]
We tend to think we're at the top of the food chain, because we eat everything (froms snakes to dogs and alligators), but since we don't really live in a static "habitat" or coexist with wild animals, we don't belong to the food chain. Nature didn't equip us with giant claws and fangs to hunt in the wild. All we have is our big brain and ingenuity.

If we DID live in the wild, I'm pretty sure humans would not be at the top of the food chain. We'd be pretty close to the top though.
User avatar #134 - iizsimon (04/23/2014) [-]
