This is the first comic I've done myself. I do make comics with a friend of mine but I write the story and she draws everything. So I'm familiar with some aspects but I still have some learning to go. I'll look out for that book when I'm out shopping. Could I find it in Barnes&Nobles?

Yeah, you can find it at most stores, it's about $20. Defiantly get it if you can. I'm not sure how dedicated you are, but if your curious, read Scott McCloud's other book first: Understanding Comics. Its pretty much my bible. His third book, Reinventing Comics is just a fun read for those obsessed with the medium. If you're looking for some advanced texts: A Comic Studies Reader, by Jeet Heer and Kent Worcester, and Critical Approaches to Comics: Theories and Methods, by Matthew J. Smith & Randy Duncan

Alright, I'll keep that in mind! Thanks. Comics are a new thing to me, I'm used to writing traditional novels and the story telling is a little different. At least that's how it feels to me so far.
#21 - Abraxasium (07/02/2014) [-]
Comics are a much different medium than literature, and in many ways harder to create. I respect your choice, but maybe writing your project as a short story first will help. Most new comic writers become obsessed with how much they can express, but soon frustrated by how little their story progresses. Always keep the final image in mind. Also, if you are inexperienced with the medium, i highly highly highly recommend that you read the book: Making Comics, by Scott McCloud. If you're confident with your artistic abilities, you should be set after reading this.

Yes, there is a definite twist in Estrella's past. I just gave a very basic description of the plot. Don't worry.
#12 - Abraxasium (07/02/2014) [-]
Well alright. Pro Tip: don't overly rely on that one twist as a plot redeemer. Flesh out your environment and make your protagonist's journey the central focus. Hit the reader when they least expect to create some cognitive dissonance. Works wonders.
