but entertaining the idea does not equate to the opposite either. some people just believe 1 thing because of facts and others believe something else because thats how they feel. thats perfectly o.k. everybody has a right to act a certain way

I be leave in Aliens because we are not a computer game that has invisible boundary's.
Which would mean that the universe is endless. Making the chances what happened here on earth with how live was created infinite.

Depends on what you consider "the universe." If it's planets and stars and galaxies and shit, then no, the universe isn't infinite. Matter doesn't work that way: Mass can't be created or destroyed, and all matter has mass, so there's only ever a limited amount of stuff that can ever exist. However, there is possibly an infinite amount of empty space for the universe to expand out into, meaning that the universe kind of IS infinite if you count all empty space.

Idk where you're getting that idea from. Its Speculated that if the universe is indeed infinite then there is an infinite number of planets as well. It's so big that after awhile it's likely you would start to see planets that are nearly replicates of another. In an area that is infinite it's also infinitely impossible for there to NOT be any other life forms. Basically it's like a 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance there ARE alien life forms. If you had a lottery with those chances of winning you wouldn't even consider not playing it because you might lose. That's just how statistical fact works. To say something like "yeah but you have a .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of being wrong huehue". It's just stupid to think otherwise.

You can speculate that, but you'd be wrong. There is no possible way to have an infinite amount of something finite. And Mass, which cannot be created or destroyed, is by definition, finite. Meaning there can only be a finite number of planets. However, the number is literally astronomical, because there is a metric fuckload of mass out there. But it is still, by definition, finite.

Then you're disagreeing with a very large portion of the scientific community. you don't know what you're talking about
User avatar
#159 - hanabro (05/15/2016) [-]
No, you don't know what you're talking about, because you don't know the difference between infinite space and infinite mass. The scientific community largely agrees there is infinite SPACE, as do I, but any scientist who tells you that there absolutely, 100% for certain is or is not infinite mass in the universe is lying. Nobody knows for sure, and people can only speculate. I speculate that there is NOT infinite mass in the universe because it can't be created or destroyed, while having a finite boundary.

I speculate you're an idiot. Does that mean your an idiot by fact? Maybe it does. However, a MAJORITY believe that there is both infinite space as well as infinite mass. At least so much that it is beyond our capability to imagine how much there is. Infinite. Your speculation is worth jack shit compared to the people that actually matter.
User avatar
#166 - hanabro (05/16/2016) [-]
Beyond our capacity to understand does NOT mean infinite. If you don't understand the difference between "a lot" and "infinite," you have no right to call anyone stupid, you blithering fucking retard.
User avatar
#167 - fergin (05/16/2016) [-]
You mad? I don't think you know how space works. Not much else to say too someone who disagrees with the established scientific community.
User avatar
#168 - hanabro (05/16/2016) [-]
You keep saying that, but the official statement from NASA is that space is bigger than we can observe, NOT that it is infinite. Any scientist saying that the universe is infinite is simply stating their opinion as fact, because it is literally unobservable. There is simply no proof one way or another.

Look up Occams Razor. It's pretty much been accepted that its EXTREMELY likely that it is infinite. So likely that there have been several other theories backed by evidence tha are based around it being infinite. Let me clarify that a theory in scientific terms is something that has been backed by substantial evidence and excepted as fact. Even if it isnt 100% proven. There are things we simply cannot prove with 100% fact because we do not yet have the technology to do so. However, just because there's an incredibly small chance a theory is incorrect wrong; that doesn't mean the extreme likeliness that it IS correct is ignored. If you have a 99.9 percent chance of dying from jumping off the empire state building does that mean its safe to jump off? No it does not. Just because there's a chance, it doesn't mean its wrong. I'm not responding again, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. I like that fedora wearing "Blithering retard" insult. You trying to sound smart or something? Go jerk off to your anime.

Then how do we have the mass that created earth and other planets?
User avatar
#130 - Abortedwafflez (05/13/2016) [-]
I'm no expert, but the law of conservation of mass pretty much in a nutshell says mass cannot be created or destroyed. But it can change forms. So the stuff that made the Earth already existed, but probably in another form. Eventually that mass turned into particles like dust n shit and gathered over time to create what we know as ZA WARUDO(The Earth).
User avatar
#134 - majordegree (05/13/2016) [-]
Do we even know as a species how mass exist in the first place?
#143 - oneentity (05/13/2016) [-]
"Brief history of time" by Stephen Hawking will answer your question quite satisfactorily.

I think we know kinda how it forms. But not how it was originally made. It goes back to the question "How did it all begin?" No one knows and your guess is probably as good as mine. According to our logic, something can't be made from nothing. But, it could be that everything in this universe just exists and always has. I'm not happy with that answer, but it could be true. We could be a simulation, we could be under the influence of a god, we could be in a floating purgatory. We just don't really know.
