Mormons helped me hang drywall. Not sure why they get so much hate....they might be wrong, but they think they are helping you (saving you from hell). They go out, door to door, unpaid and deal with people treating them like crap *and* they'll help with chores or pretty much anything else you want - without charging you a penny.

And people are all like, 'OMG - what a bunch of jerks'.

Lots of other religions would just call you sinner and laugh knowing your a heathen that will go to hell. In lots of places, the religious people would be busy getting laws past that dictate religious values (can't buy alcohol on Sunday! Can't sell birth control! Can't marry gays! etc...) Hell, in Syria, they'd just murder you for not following their God.

But these guys, they just go around, trying to tell you about their god and helping you out if you want to listen. Seem pretty decent if you ask me.

Not to try and refute you or anything, but you may find this article interesting. As the title suggest, it's interesting observations from an ex-missionary.

A lot of people don't realize.... the church workers are all doing this as volunteer work. The Bishop (like a priest) and the other church "staff" including the people who clean the building (just other members) don't actually get paid to do so, whereas most religions, people get paid to be a priest/pastor/etc

and don't forget that their church especially developed a peer pressure tactics for marketing purposes. It is when you are one against two, you tend to accept other people's ideas.

Mormons suck. **** mormons.
I like Krisnaites better. At least they sing songs and dance for their own joy and don't bother you much.

The pairs isn't a marketing scheme. I once saw a couple of the missionaries on bicycles and one of them totally bit the dirt after his front tire came loose. The other guy had him patched up and was on the phone with paramedics before I could get across the street. They take care of each other.

Go in pairs isn't exactly an evil plot to peer pressure you.

Compare that to the holy wars or Christian ministries that go to 3rd world crapholes and give them food/medicine so long as they listen to the Christian teachings....

Look, I'm not saying Mormons are great. I'm not. I don't believe any of their crap, and I'm sure there are million silly things they believe in. But they do go around, door to door, trying to help. Misguided? Sure. But compared to all the other religions, it seems like they certainly aren't any worse.

Are they systematically protecting grown men who sexually abuse little boys? Are they forcing women to cover 90% of their bodies and be escorted by men? Are they speaking out against birth control? Comparatively, they seem pretty okay.
