To correct myself, Kelly did not die.
User avatar #104 to #82 - jntcoolman (06/08/2014) [-]
In the Halo book series, Sam was a very strong ,enough for John to say he was stronger than him, and good spartan and John (Master Cheif) was great friends with him and another spartan named Kelly, which Kelly and Sam both served alongside with John. Kelly and Sam both sacrificed themselves in different ways to further success of keeping the Covenant from finding Earth and also, well this is obvious, to further the success of the military's cause of killing the covenants to protect the human race. If my memory serves me right (I havent read the books in a long time) Sam died from having to remote detonate a, I think, missile or some type of major explosive to destroy a covenant frigate in a massive space battle that the humans were obviously loosing at the time. He did this because he was shot with a plasma bolt and was wounded majorly, this was before they had shield and before Halo Reach and was I think the first covenant battle that started the great human vs covenant war, and so he sacrificed himself to detonate the explosive. Sam in the books is regarded as a very important spartan and he was the first spartan to die, and when I say first I mean first he was the first ever spartan to die in combat. I suggest strongly that you read the series, its a very well written series too.

Even Halsy hates the spartan4s

They are just lucky ******* who got suits of armor if you pined a spartan 2 or 3 fire team agents a platoon of spartan4s the spartans 2@3 would kill them with little hesitation

if i was John i would be livid that they replaced me with Greenhorns itching for a fight Not that i was replaced but what i was replaced with

******* are not even worth it and there are only 300ish spartan3s and 5-8 spartan2s
and they would still **** the spartan4 mass production when did quality become quantity "400 spartan4s = 1 spartan3" "10 spartan3s = 1 spartan2" 400x10=40k spartan4s might get a spartan 2 dirty

and read the books they litteraly want to rearm all ground forces with power armor Not even going to call it by its actual name suits are being mass produced with no end

10k spartan4 suits in production wtf is this

Well, to be fair, giving the ODST power armor/MJOLNIR armor is a pretty good idea since it helps keep them alive longer. So it makes sense for the UNSC to do it, but it doesn't make sense for 343 to make that happen, as the UNSC just finished the worst war in human history (other than the Human-Forerunner-Flood war, maybe) and yet they have the resources to build super carriers and mass produce MJOLNIR suits and fight the remnants of the covies. I think it would be wiser to work on rebuilding colonies like Reach and (New?) Harvest and such. And maybe going some time without trying to fight the Covenant would be wise, and instead working with the Sanghelli to rebuild both of their societies and help their new allies learn how to do the things the Prophets made them ignore.

I just get figgity to the thought that you would give people 35Trillion dollar suits For cannon fodder ODST Hotshots Who think Spartans are ******* **** but use the armor any way without augmentations

No srsly you make a suit that is now limmited by pain like a normal persons skin Wasnt the point of the armor to Run 40mph and Jump 9 feet strait up and bench lift a metric ton But to keep the armor from killing the ODSTspertan they need to limit suits power so a Spartan2@3 can still **** them up

Spartan code:Your going to bleed to death before your bones break

Its like giving 1 grunt a Scarab
Its completely Unnecessary and a waste of good Hardware

Except ODST aren't just regular troopers. They're as badass if not more than Para Rescue or Navy SEAL or Rangers.

So they're not "just soldiers." They're very good, but they're not superhuman like Spartan 2s and even 3s. But, I agree that they need to be augmented first. I say that it's just better to have a program where the SPARTAN 4's children will be put into the SPARTAN program and raised in it, if they wash out they can still be great soldiers or even other fields of work, and if they don't then they're like SPARTAN 2's in the fact that they were raised to be soldiers.

You know what bothered me most though? Of course you don't, you're not Asian. How ******* stupid they made the armors. Reach had a great design to them, the armors looked realistic enough for power armor with energy shields, didn't have weird scale textures and bulbous looks to the glass, and the Halo 4 ones are just plain ugly for the most part. There were maybe two armors I didn't like in Reach, but most of them I loved, but my EOD helmet with the uplink that got rid of the little bars at the base of it, those were my favorite.

I also felt like Halo 4 took several steps back from the other games, and that really bothered me. Less customization, less campaign, easier campaign (beat it with almost no trouble on Legendary, first try, as opposed to Long Night of Solace on Legendary... good God that part where you enter the ship...) and a push x to win ending.

TFW Sam died because shields weren't invented and he got hit by a plasma pistol.

Story wise, yes. Gameplay it's actually quite nice.
User avatar #37 to #34 - nathanbiggs (06/08/2014) [-]
Maybe at the very, very core of it all. But with everything else that 343i felt the need to add on, the gameplay becomes noticeably less fun.
User avatar #41 to #37 - DrPeppir (06/08/2014) [-]
Too many games are fast-paced now (Call of Duty). Halo had a unique feeling because of the size of the maps and the slower-paced gameplay. It gave you more time to plan what you were doing instead of running 6 feet in either direction seeing who can fire a gun faster.

You're a man after my own heart. Keep fighting the good fight. I just pretend the game doesn't exist and Halo ended like it started, in a cryotube.
I hate 343i with all my heart.
User avatar #53 to #50 - thelastelephant ONLINE (06/08/2014) [-]
I hesitate to call out 343i honestly. Do I think they handled Halo 4 well? No. If we were to ever have a Halo animated film, they'd be the first ones I'd call. The game and cutscenes look absolutely gorgeous, but giving us three types of enemies is plain lazy.
#56 to #53 - fargfive ONLINE (06/08/2014) [-]
I suppose I don't hate all of them, just their story department and whoever was in charge of the gameplay, art design and armor design, which to be fair is probably a large portion of the dev team. I'll admit it was pretty, but just about everything they could have conceivably screwed up, they screwed up royally.

The cherry on top of their ****** pie was the Mantis. I've seen a lot of horrible mech designs, but the Mantis was probably the worst I've ever seen. There's not a single thing about the design that doesn't look horribly out of place and hideously ugly. And to make it even worse, there was already a much better design for a mech in Halo Legends. And don't even get me started on the armors.
The cutscenes may have been pretty, but the story was horrible and whoever was in charge of the art department should be taken out back and shot.
User avatar #58 to #56 - thelastelephant ONLINE (06/08/2014) [-]
Oh, I agree completely. I just wanted my ODST armor, but no. The Oceanic set doesn't even make any sense, and that Legendary Console Edition helmet or whatever the **** it was looked dumb as all hell with that giant-ass spike sticking out of it.

The only reason I still have my copy of Halo 4 is because I got it autographed by Jennifer Hale. At least now it'll have some resale value in ten years.

I'd say you make a better case talking about how **** Spartan IVs are.

They act like a bunch of immature douchebags just BARELY more tolerable than the drugged up frat boys of Haze. And these are all volunteer adults...

Spartan Is (like Johnson) were badass, Spartan IIs undeniably all badass, and even Spartan IIIs were pretty kickass considering how disadvantaged they were and that they were created to just be disposable soldiers. These guys? Embarrassment.

But yeah I agree with you that Halo 4 is **** . Enemies weren't fun to play and it failed to create that new world experience. Fighting more of the old baddies for half the game didn't help with this. They also did a terrible job explaining who the Didact/Librarian were and what was going on, expecting everyone to either read the books or get all the info from all the terminals.

And don't get me started on how they ruined MP by making it even MORE like COD
#119 to #25 - anonymous (06/08/2014) [-]
I agree. I was an enormous Halo fan for years. Besides the visuals feeling significantly outdated, Halo 4 just didn't feel like Halo. I didn't have too much of a problem with the storyline, though, as much as the online. I hated the class system, trying too hard to copy CoD. That is not what Halo is about. Halo always started you off with default weapons.

< For me, this was and shall always be the best Halo game.

actually John is a Spartan 2. Noble Team are Spartan 3s, except for Jorge who is a SP2

and yes 4 was total **** , the only thing i liked about it was the built in sprinting in the controls, because it made more sense that ************* SPARTANS, the most badass soldiers in human history, could actually sprint
