They couldn't leave straight away, though, because they were all old boats abandoned on the shore (I think), and the zombies were right behind them.
The water was shallow enough for someone to stand up, but also deep enough for someone to drown, and the zombies just clambered up the ropes and stuff.

Yup, and in Survival Of The Dead a bunch of them are standing on the floor of the ocean near the harbor and jump up to grab a hold of the guy who fell in the water.

And in uh.. Zombi? I think it was Zombi, there was a zombie fighting a shark.

So yeah, water isn't going to do much towards zombies. They can just walk along the floor of a river/lake/ocean though eventually they will be carried away by the stream, even then they could just turn up on a beach somewhere and continue walking.

Only problem with water is the pressure at a certain depth.

In all honesty, I'd probably give it a week or so to see if we could actually have some kind of possibility of containing and curing it. But if too much time has gone by and society is starting to crumble I'd probably just put a bullet in my head. I'd rather go quick than being ripped apart by zombies or fighting other humans for survival.

Dead is dead, whether it be by a bullet or being torn apart by a zombie. I would try to prolong my life as long as possible, if for no other reason than see how long I can do it (gamer mentality). Besides, the pain of being torn up by zombies would be worth the extra time.

Personally, I would go for the opposite, the jungles of Central America. Thorns everywhere, predators and heat, those zombies would get wrecked from it all. Plus I could farm and such in there, and wall off my land from everything else.

That's if it is even compatible to afflict anything other than humans. Viruses can only genetically effect certain species, and take a lot of adapting to jump to another species. So who knows what might happen. I'd be more terrified of a zombie walrus or whale than a zombie jaguar.

Because they still have a human body, and humans have to have a lot of gear and experience to survive the cold like that. If they're undead, their blood will freeze and coagulate and they'll be unable to move because the dead do not produce their own body heat.

If they're alive and infected (which is the only thing that makes sense, a brain requires all the vital organs we need now) then just like a human who runs into the tundra, they would die of hypothermia just like you would if you were out there in shorts and a t-shirt with no heating to go into for a day, much less several days.

Need I remind you, Zombies are a work of fiction, thus their physical traits are arbitrary. I mean ****, I can could write a story about space zombies that can survive extreme temperature, and can survive in a vacuum, and it'll all be legit.

And I'm speaking on a scientific level. If it's an infection that simply reduces pain receptors and such, then they will die from the cold. And that's the most likely thing to happen.

Yes, but we're discussing as if this is not fiction. Thus it's illogical to say "Hurr, fiction, so I can make it up!" We're discussing this as a hypothetical and theoretical thing. Because of this, rules of logic and reality are needed.

That's what you do with theoretical logic. You reason as if it wasn't fiction, so you then figure out how it would work. The human body can only withstand so much, not to mention, it wouldn't be an apocalypse if they weren't very strong.

Not to be a buzz kill but unless the zombie virus, or rage virus, or what ever the **** is turning them is airborne or blood transferred, including via Mosquito's and only a certain very low like 20% of the population is immune, then zombie virus will be killed out with in a week, month longest

We are too efficient as a species at killing things that zombies pose literally 0 threat to us, Mosquito's are more threatening to us then zombies, word will get out very quickly and America, Australia, Britian etc etc etc will rush to action

Tanks, Helicopers, Jets, Artillery > zombie horde

We really are just too excellent at killing things

Actually I recommend reading not watching, **** the adaptation World War Z. The virus can actually spread far pretty quickly and depending upon how soon it kills and reanimates the person, the world will not recognize it to be anything more than something akin to rabies. Then there are the people who try to protect their infected loved ones by hiding them or escaping to other countries. All it takes is one zombie, and by the next day you could have a hundred.

The Walking Dead is actually the perfect solution to that little logical problem. Everyone who ever dies will turn into a zombie, so it can't be contained even if every zombie is killed. There could be an outbreak at any time just because someone fell down the stairs or something.

I hate to be the guy that argues in favour of zombie realism but what the hell:

There is no evidence to support the view that governments would respond correctly. Take a look at our response to the HIV/AIDS problem. Even so, lets assume that the governments of the world pull their heads out of their asses for long enough to mount some sort of response you've got to admit it's far from a simple problem:

1) Try explaining to the families that inevitably keep their "sick" relatives restrained that there is no cure for the affliction that we learned about the previous weekend and we need to shoot them in the face
2) We've got enough people believing the world is ending without walking corpses eating people alive
3) Muh looters and opportunists
4) Try explaining to any rational person that dead people are coming to life and they need to abandon an area. See Hurricane Katrina. Also good luck organising that evacuation effort
5) Anti-personnel weapons aren't designed to remove the head or destroy the brain. See Battle of Yonkers (exaggerated, but you get the point).
6) I know our military isn't equipped or trained to go room to room, house to house across the entirety of the British Isles plus any other country that doesn't have the military capacity to sweep it up themselves, up to and including regions of the world where the 'Great Satan and its Imperialist Dogs' aren't welcome.

And that's just if you're talking slow, bite-y, virus caused zombies. If it's Romero zombies, where everyone who dies comes back as one of them, then we're utterly screwed.

Suicide. Definitely suicide. Zombie outbreak isn't the same as zombie apocalypse. Any apocalypse and I'm putting one through my dome. If mankind survives at all it'll take centuries to rebuild to the point where we're at and why would I want to live on in such a scenario? No medicine, no electricity, no anything.
