People need to stop wasting their time and money on useless degrees and get something they can actually find a job with. What the **** kind of job are you going to get with a degree in 12th century french poetry? You're a ******* idiot and you deserve to be judged because you're stupid. Have fun being unemployed with your worthless degree.

Yes, my Computer Science degree and A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications are totally on par with 12th century french poetry. You do ******* know that people who do legitimate hard work and study can't find jobs, right? Stop being an ******* and assuming.

There is a problem of overqualified underemployed people, but their particular job field wouldn't likely end in a a top ten list of "worst jobs."

Actually, for my area, anything with computers is a rarity due to it being a relatively rural section of the US, with a citizenry who absolutely hates modernization.
User avatar #25 to #24 - adu (10/16/2013) [-]
You could try moving. If the city refuses to modernize then its businesses likely aren't able to compete anyways.
User avatar #26 to #25 - lyiat ONLINE (10/16/2013) [-]
Yeah, you going to cough up the cash so I can move? I can't afford a car, let alone buy/rent a house. Crushing collage debt makes everything impossible. I can't get a loan, I can't do crap.
User avatar #27 to #26 - adu (10/16/2013) [-]
I would have really recommended planning it out a bit better to be honest. College debt is a serious issue if you don't have work, and if you're in a city with poor modernization, why decide to get your computer science degree there?
User avatar #28 to #27 - lyiat ONLINE (10/16/2013) [-]
And what would you suggest I have done differently? Every sign on the planet said, "Get a degree in IT, you'll never be out of work. Fastest growing profession in the country!" I was goddamn 18 with an entire family and upbringing that said "Go directly to collage, don't question it, education means you'll never have to worry about getting a good job". It's complete ******** . They don't give you the time or the proper knowledge to actually plan this stuff out.

I feel for you man. I'm 20 and it might take me 5 or 6 years to get a 4 year degree because I don't qualify for any scholarships and I want to be sure of what I want. I've already had to drop one class that can't be refunded because of emotional issues and a gut feeling to change my major. I was going to do Mechanical Engineering, but since I discovered I pretty much hate that, I'm thinking of switching to Computer Engineering. But I'm keeping my options open, because I don't want to get stuck into anything before I'm certain of my plan. I don't want to end up broke or working a job I hate because I was forced to decide on a career while just a highschool kid. By the sounds of it, that's what happened to you. Honestly the situation sucks, and you probably know more about this than I do, but if you can start applying for a field-relevant internship near you, then do it. To many, many employers, experience is worth more than a degree.

Maybe because your major is ******* useless.
User avatar #19 to #11 - eddymolly (10/16/2013) [-]
$96,000? Holy **** , thats like £60k. Thats 10 years worth of low fee uni in the UK. Damn, you americans get ripped off a bit.
User avatar #20 to #19 - adu (10/16/2013) [-]
Just the ******* retarded ones. Credential inflation is one of the bigger problems with the economy.
User avatar #21 to #20 - eddymolly (10/16/2013) [-]
I dunno, even if its a really good degree, 10 years worth of education? No wonder you have to have so many scholarships and stuff
(I don't really know that much about your school system, but from watching TV I feel scholarships are pretty important)

Moga, you've posted so many FMLs in the past hour...
#2 to #1 - moqa (10/15/2013) [-]
Should I spread them out over a longer time period?
User avatar #4 to #2 - mericuh (10/16/2013) [-]
Why post them here when there's an entire website that we could visit if we wanted?
#5 to #4 - moqa (10/16/2013) [-]
Good question, all I know is that the thumb system is there to let me know what to post and what to not post. If something gets a lot of green thumbs then I think I should post similar posts. FML posts are doing pretty well thumb wise so I don't see why I shouldn't post them.
User avatar #10 to #5 - redtooth (10/16/2013) [-]
this is the same attitude that I have on reposts and generally all fj posts. If people enjoyed it enough that the post made it to frontpage, it's kinda selfish to say "I've seen this before, you should feel ashamed for posting it" - other people haven't seen it. Of course there are exceptions to this rule like people posting the same stuff while it's still on the frontpage and people not giving credit, etc. etc.
User avatar #6 to #5 - mericuh (10/16/2013) [-]
I suppose that's a fair point. Also capitalism at its finest.
#7 to #6 - moqa (10/16/2013) [-]
Also can you please get your **** together mericuh and reopen the government, I know quite a few people wanting to get back to work.
