AS A FAT PERSON I AGREE WITH THIS.

I'm a fat guy, however I do work out and eat fairly healthy and have lost about 40lbs (I weigh 235 now). And while I think fat people shouldn't be immune from judgement, you should treat them with the kindness and respect you give any other person.

TL;DR Don't be a cunt

I agree, as a fatass myself i have no pity for fat people, i am fat, i know why im fat, i eat way to many cheeseburgers and dont work out enough to offset what i intake. i dont expect and pity and i dont believe any person does unless they have a true disability that they cant help against and are not just people who have no self control. rant over.

tldr? fatass has no pity for other fatasses

"Unpopular opinion"
Everyone on funnyjunk says this all the ******* time.

You want a real unpopular opinion? Mind your own business. Because unless someone is telling you that you need to accommodate their habit then its not your place to give a **** .

I think smokers and addicts deserve some sympathy, since many of them start off as depressed and troubled people looking for a quick chemical release from their stress. Nicotine, heroin, alcohol, junk food, all of these will seriously **** up your brain if you just quit taking them in cold turkey. A lot of rehab and weight loss programs are staffed by people that used to need them because they know what it feels to be in that position.

Obviously people don't deserve special treatment for their own mistakes, but the fact that you're looking for an excuse to not simply empathize with others probably means you just want to be an asshole and feel vindicated for it

Some fat people, like me, do try to lose weight. But it can be increasingly hard if genetics does play a role in why you're fat. My grandma had diabetes but didn't die from it and she was a fairly large woman. She could still move around and do the things she loved but she ended up dying due to a sickness, nothing related to her weight.

I'm 350 pounds. I have been eating healthy for the past year and doing whatever I can to lose weight. But it's difficult. Instead of restricting a person, may it be genetics or otherwise, maybe you can do what every human is brought up to do... ******* care that these people are having troubles and help them. I'm not asking for every singular person, but those who CAN help. Like doctors and others in that field.

tl;dr
Don't be an ass

You're damn right we don't deserve sympathy. We are the sum of our actions and decisions.

I'm fat and I don't ask for sympathy. All I ask for is respect as a human being. It's hard enough not to look at myself in the mirror everyday and think "you ******* weak pathetic piece of **** . No one likes you. You're ******* disgusting." I certainly don't need to feel or think that other people out there find me as repulsive as I am. It's not as easy as saying "just lose weight". I gained weight out of fear that if I remained thin, I would be attracting the kind of attention that got me molested as a child or raped as a teen. I know its not right but it's hard breaking out of that mindset. I have a lot of good qualities and I know that I'm not ugly, I'm just fat and it's up to me whether I shed the pounds or hold them tight and it really doesn't affect anyone else so I don't see why people get so angry when people are fat. It's that kind of close minded **** that drives people to suicide.

Keyword: Sympathy. Don't hate fat people just because they are fat.
#164 - karlKroenen (11/04/2013) [+] (2 replies)
I think that sympathy and judgement should be given on a person to person basis.
For example; if you see a person smoking, it could be their last cigarette, perhaps their first, it is possible that somebody close to them died and they are just relieving some stress. A cigarette does not determine who somebody is.

If you see a person horribly drunk, it could be that they never drink and it is their birthday or something. Alcohol can change people but does not determine who they are.

For obese people there are some issues that can cause obesity, although the "false" issues far outweigh the legit ones such as thyroid cancer (my mom had this), you really can't tell what caused it.
I think people have a bad habit of assuming the worst in people. I.E. When somebody speeding I always assume that they are just douche bags. It could be that they are late for their children's birthday or something..
The solution? I think people should take into account more than one possibility for what or who they are witnessing and give neither sympathy or pity until they can reach a proper judgement.

I'm overweight and the only thing I expect is to be treated with the same respect I give to everyone else no matter what the circumstances are..

I am not hurting anybody and am no different from your average human, but if someone decided to attack me for no reason other than to insult me, then you're an ass.

Judging is one thing and I'm fine with it but personal attacks on someone who hasn't wronged anyone is uncalled for.

Well arent you cool
User avatar #310 - nucularwar (11/04/2013) [-]
Fun fact: Not all obese people are that way because of overeating. Some people have legitimate health reasons that make it very hard to lose weight.
User avatar #244 - rimial (11/04/2013) [-]
I can agree to this, but at the same time, don't go out of you way to make fun of a fat person just for the sake of being a dick. If they're fat and not hurting anyone, leave them be, but if they're fat and a total ass have at em.
#80 - tasomo (11/03/2013) [+] (1 reply)
Ok, I'll bite. Who DOES deserve sympathy and immunity from judgement?

Last I checked if you're physically perfect or average or physically ****** up you get no sympathy of immunity anywhere here. Got a hot girlfriend? You must be a douchebag because anyone who has a hottie and says so obviously is a bragging asshole. Are you completely average? Wow, what a ******* loser because you didn't do anything with your life and you're just wasting everyone's air. ANYTHING wrong with you physically? IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT AND YOU DID IT TO YOURSELF!!

Spare us the stupidity.

Don't deserve sympathy?? Sure, but they don't deserve to be looked down upon either, they are human beings who make their own decisions. Just because they don't follow the "Social norms" doesn't mean you get a free pass to act like a cunt

I both agree and disagree. Smokers and junkies and alcoholics pose threats to other people, via second hand smoke and being ********* while under the influence. The only real danger fat people pose is bringing up their children to be unhealthy as well.

But if any of the four are being dicks, treat them like dicks. If you see a fat person going for a car leave em be, but it's different than seeing an obviously smashed/stoned person headed for the wheel.

Like alcoholics, smokers and junkies, I think if a fat person is trying to improve him/herself, they should be commended because damn, that's some hard **** .
