Now, this is trust.

Did anybody else notice that this is very similar to the prisoners dilemma? If it helps, think of it in a perfect system, where each person can press a button to release their end of the rubber band, and the iteration resolves once both have selected an input. Eh? Eh? Who's with me?

Except if they both choose to let go or hold on to the band it's the same outcome because neither of them get hurt. But I should definitely use this as an example for my econ class if it appears on a test.

You're right! I didn't really realise that there was no penalty for two outcomes. With some tweaking, you could probably come up with a way that this situation would fit the forumla better. *nod nod* But thanks for pointing that out.

I could've sworn there was a "safety" on a flame thrower where a flame would just sit there in case of quick reactions needed. Still tho ****** cool....errr..... hot.
User avatar #15 - saxong (02/26/2014) [-]
It's just like a pilot light on a stove, a tiny amount of fuel being burned at all times for ignitionless systems, there's very little more trust being displayed here than just having someone else light your cigarette with a normal lighter. That is, assuming of course, that flamethrower-guy is practicing proper trigger discipline.
#46 to #15 - John Cena (02/27/2014) [-]
I would say it is closer to letting your friend give you a back rub with the barrel fo their gun

Flame throwers always have a small flame lit (a pilot light)
#47 to #42 - cyberneticghost (02/27/2014) [-]
That's pretty common knowledge, dude.

I think what the title is trying to imply is that he could pull the trigger lever at any moment.

Though I don't see how one could make a decision like that in whole 0.5 of a second it takes to actually light a cigarette (Unless you're a complete ******* psycho I guess), but whatever... I'll roll with it..

I get what it's saying as well, however the flame thrower is a two trigger system, look at the picture now

Hey smokers, why do people keep the cig in their mouths while and before lighting it?
User avatar #95 to #91 - schneidend (02/27/2014) [-]
Giving it a few puffs help light it. At least, that's why I do it with cigars. Also, easier to hold the match or lighter if your hands are free.
#99 to #91 - lolfire (02/27/2014) [-]
Well while because you have to inhale to light the thing.
And before because with most smokers there is an oral fixation, sort of like sucking your thumb as a child.
