That dude is big and theres like no give in the catch at all. You should try locking your elbows and catching what looks like 230 lbs dropping 6 feet or so.

You act like you know his elbows arent bent even though you cant see them at all. Why wouldn't they be bent you dumb **** a SEAL probably has the basic common sense to bend his elbows to absorb the fall

Though I'd agree with you, normally.. You say "theres like no give in the catch at all".

Which he's not there to physically stop his fall, just slow him down. There is tons of give in the catch. He's literally just slowing him down enough to not make a huge splash.

I think the problem, is that the camera jerks down just as he catches, making it, for a split second, look like a sudden stop, when in reality it's more of a continuous motion. More of a "controlled fall" rather than a catch.

If it is, indeed, a sudden stop, like you say, then I agree with you completely. But I don't think it actually is.

YOu realize him being in water would play a role in it also? Think of it, your can lift a lot more in water because of it being denser then air and offering support. increasing the case of why this is possible.

Yes...apart from the fact that the body is not in the water you are right.
The seal is in the water, so it would be easier to lift him, but the corpse is above the water. It's not that standing in water makes you stronger or someting like that...

Yes its possible, but your elbows bend to catch the shock, and you decelerate over a few feet. Now lock your elbows(which would be the only way to catch this much weight without recoiling like he does in the gif) and fall onto your arms, and see what happens.

That would still be loud entering the water, also he would scream, and also that's a super gay and lame way to do it.

No. it wouldnt. The guy would hear him turn around and shoot him if he tryed to stab him anywhere fatal like above his ankles, or he would stab him in the foot quietly then the guy would go "ow" turn around and shoot him, and in either case raise the alarm

I meant grab the guy by the back of his pants, then pull him into the water and stab him in the neck.

I know what you meant, how on earth would he get out of the water to get a good enough position to grab him by the neck quietly enough to not have the guy turn around.

it's possible to exit water quietly, as long as you go slowly and aren't some kind of hippopotamus person

You are all missing the point. He is there so the body doesn't make a loud splash in the water. If he pulls him in and stabs him BAM theres gonna be a splash. LOGIC

the idea is to kill him discreetley, if he falls into the water without someone recieving him the splash sound will allert the others...

Obviously, it's a movie, and not meant to be 100% accurate,
But wouldn't the body normally fall on the deck, since the bullet is "pushing" that way?

The guy's head wouldn't offer resistance enough for that much energy to be transfered.

Bullets don't generate a lot of force in terms of "pushing-power". Whenever you see a movie with people flying everywhere from say, a shotgun, you can rest easy and know that it's only special effects and stuntmen getting blown away.

Something as heavy as a man in full combat gear being shot in the head is not a safe bet to assume would fall backwards. The more likely outcome would be that he simply collapses on the spot as his muscles relaxes.

There's a common gif somewhere of a vietnamese being shot in the head where he collapses right on the spot, it's a good example of what would probably happen to this guy as well.
