being beta isn't about appearance it's about confidence. pictures don't really show an abundance or lack of confidence.

Beta isn't about looks, it's about attitude, as said by comment #1. I'm the perfect example of beta:
Few days ago I went to a female friends 18th birthday party. I'm 15 and she and her sister, who's in the same school year as me, are like sisters to me. Our parents are good friends so I got dragged down with my Mum (not really, I went because I got invited and wanted to and it was pretty fun). The girl's sister had invited some friends and of course I knew them too.
So I'm sitting, keeping out of everyone's way when 3 of her friends come and drag me onto the dance floor because my Mum (who was outside having a cigarette) had asked them Me, who normally has nothing to do with girls, has just been dragged onto a dance floor at a party by 3 reasonably attractive girls!
I later learn, when walking home with my Mum, that when she asked them to do that they did it almost immediately and commented on how much of a "nice" and "sweet" guy I am.
So guys, take my advice: You never know what other people think about you; just because people don't talk to you doesn't necessarily mean they don't like you.
