This joke is beyond me because I failed math and couldn't take physics.

So someone care to explain to the not so smart? And enjoy an owl being pet.

shouldn't it be 1/λ rather than just λ

>physics class
>kinda boring, but i sill try to pay attention anyway
> teacher is describing how speed is relative, ect.
> he uses earth as an example
> he states that the equator of the earth moves faster than it poles
> dumb bitch, who should be allowed to speak raises her hand
> " Is that the reason why black people are a lot faster than white people?"
> whole class is in shock
> teacher does not how to reply
> he just gives up in the end
> i'm sitting in the back trying not to laugh for the rest of the lesson.

Lambda as period? ******** i know three things out of my head that are represented by lambda but period isn't one of them. T or delta(t) is period. Or 1/frequency as someone said.

I was actually looking at the post for a good minute or so thinking: "She's on her wavelenth? wat?" and then i realised that op is a retard.
User avatar #15 - Generation (07/02/2013) [+] (1 reply)
wavelength =/= period

Op is a fag. Lambda is universally accepted symbol used to indicate wavelength, not period. 1/lambda as indicated in the other comments is period, otherwise usually represented by big T. Fake and gay, or possibly just 'murica.

Anon is a fag. Lambda, like many symbols in Physics, is used to represent numerous things, including Wavelength, Decay Constant and Mean Free Path.

Wavelength and period are not the same,

I would like to point out, that as a nuke engineering major... I support these comments, if not the actual post. Learning for everyone. God I love ******* science.

"You're on your gamma...."

i was trying to figure out you you pronounce "upside down y" before I realized it was a lambda

I'm going to steal this joke
User avatar #44 - keiishiyama (07/02/2013) [-]
Though I learned period as denoted by T or 1/f, the notion stands that that was damn funny.
User avatar #38 - richardbatsbak (07/02/2013) [-]
I did not get the joke at first because it should have been T or 1/f , wavelength is pretty far off.
User avatar #37 - luidias (07/02/2013) [-]
that's... not the symbol for period... I've only ever seen the letter T used, and on rare occasions someone uses a Tau. Lambda is wavelength if I remember correctly.
#34 - fabbethefirst (07/02/2013) [+] (3 replies)
First I read "I know you're on your lambda but shut up and sit down" and it took me a while to realize the pun.

I feel stupid
#28 - anonymous (07/02/2013) [-]
v=λf
f=v/λ
T=1/f
T=λ/v

You need a new physics teacher
