When you're walking on the sidewalk and there's a worm in the grass next to you, you don't think of communicating with the worm nor do you even notice it because you don't think of it as a big or intelligent species. The worm pays no attention to you because it is unable to comprehend another life form much more intelligent than its own.

They're either no more advanced than we are.
Died off years before humans even evolved.
Are highly advanced but not so far as to have the ability of long-distance space travel.
Alien version of the Prime Directive.

The list is endless.

...Same reason we haven't contacted anyone, intergalactic travel would be difficult and require advanced technology. Just because they live on a different planet then us, doesn't mean they are more technologically advanced than us.

*hypothesis and they are already amongst us , they are observing us. Havent you read/watched hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy? Pic related: advanced civilizations (shh, they are mice in the book/movie, but no one will know)

my theory is that we as the human race are the first to live in the universes and so there is no one that can find us or for us to find.

Not only is the universe really really really really big, it also stretches a vast about of time. The chances of any life-form not only evolving in the same period as us and finding us in this expansive milky way galaxy is huge. Not to mention we are on the edge of the universe, and the centre of the milky way is young hot stars. and the milky way is 500,000 light years wide.

I personally think that its a lot like Star trek, we haven't developed the technology to pick up on the signals yet.

Religion.
What must we look like tyo species from other worlds, mercilessly slaughtering one another over who has the better invisible friend? When humanity has evolved beyond the point of needing a magic all powerful giant in the sky to watch out of us, we will be one step closer to taking our place among the stars.

My theory is because a race so advanced thinks we are nothing but a bunch of pre-evolution idiots worshiping 'Gods' that do not exist. Plus the fact we haven't learned how to live in harmony and they're afraid we will nuke the **** of them...
