So, I've been looking forward to a handful of games coming out in the next month or so. I've saved money and pre-ordered them, read all the hype, and gotten ready for the releases. I'm having trouble getting excited though. I was reading the page for one of the games, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and they are offering something called a "Season pass," which allows you to download three characters for the price of four. I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't really afford to spend money with out budgeting. I had to save up to buy the game alone, but now I have to pay more to get the characters to play with? It isn't fair. I know DLC is a big thing, and some people do it right (Undead Nightmare, Dawnguard) but paying for characters is ridiculous. I grew up suckling the teat of Super Smash Brothers Melee. That game didn't hold out. Yeah, you had to earn the characters but it was incentive to play longer and harder. I love comics, and finally getting a good fighting game is a blessing, but It sucks that they are making me pay extra for the characters I like or to complete the roster.
I know people will just say "Don't buy the DLC," and I probably won't. The idea is that if we don't buy it, they will stop making it and just give us the whole game, but that will never work. There will always be people who will buy it and that defeats the work of the rest of us. As much as I wish, I think it's just going to get worse. Higher prices for less and less content. I know ranting on here won't help, but I'm just angry that the games we want are being peddled to us like drugs. "Here's a taste kid, now when you are shaking and need more, I'll charge you for a second and third hit."
Feel free to use the comment section to vent, rant, defend, or try and solve the idea of DLC. I just wanted to get that off my chest. Thanks for reading.
