Don't they use the magnet? I've always seen it that they lick a magnet, stick it to themselves, and then people throw loonies at it. If your loonie sticks, you get a signed magnet/poster/whatever.

One dollar coin is a Loonie (it has a loon on it, geddit?)
Two dollar coin is a Toonie (cause it sounds like 'two.' That one has polarbears on it.)
These aren't nicknames either. It's what they're really called.
