Critical Misses are retarded. Your DM is retarded. Your campaign is bad and should feel bad.

Last time we played D&D D20 (Modern), I rolled what was basically an undead hunter. (Ranger with high survival skills, listening, and massive dexterity, with silver weapons/ammo)
Was easily the damage MVP for the entire campaign, eventually group wanted to start over because I was hitting constant non-crit 60s while they hit 18, 20, etc.
I was always good at DnD.

The closest experience I've had to this was one time when I was playing WH40k tabletop. I had plasma cannon sponsons on the side of my tank. I fire them, roll for scatter and end up scattering onto a squad of friendly spacemarines that were standing well out of range of how far the turret can turn.

I killed all of them instantly, then my tank got blown up. It was not a pleasant game.
