I really hate kicks with the holes in the resonator head. Mine is so fucking punchy and brutal, every kick note is distinguished from eachother. It's very good when playing any type of metal.

I'm not even a drummer. I bought a kit so the drummer doesn't have to bring his to practice every time. I bought a good kit though.
I have a pillow in mine touching both heads. On the beater side I have a Remo Weatherking Powersonic Bass head. That one has lots of dampening on it. Reso head is just the stock Pearl Maxwin skin.

I've been a firm believer in the Remo Powerstroke 3 batter head, but the powersonic has been really piquing my interest. How does it sound? Would you recommend it?

That's a song my band recorded a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately due to my recording equipment I cannot get the kick alone. Skip to 2:04. The drummer bumped a mic and I didn't realize it so the kick got louder.

I'd definately reccomend it. The only compliment I've ever gotten on the whole kit is how good the kick sounds.

Wow, it has really nice thump quality to it. What was the recording setup used?

Two Behringer C-2 condensers as overheads and a Shure PG48(Shitty version of SM58) on the kick.
I got the condensers on the left and right channels and the kick is on both channels equally.

for a 3 mic setup it sounds really good.
