Well, yes, but any form of media is primarily used as Escapism. Reality shows, fantasy novels and Dating sim/Interactive novels are all used for different purposes. Though I think Dating Sims are the most you can get from escapism because it can fulfill an area of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs known as Belonging/ being loved, which I suppose is a good thing and a bad thing.
TL;DR Dating Sims fulfill social needs as a part of Uses and gratifications.
Soory, I study media so I analyse this kind of stuff sometimes...
