The American version makes me sad. It just doesn't work. The show is 100% British humour, it just... Doesn't work at all.

it is just a really poorly written. like they took they original script, threw away some pages, then watered what was left down so the dumb american audience could understand it.
also, it seems like a small thing, but american tv is a lot cleaner than british tv is, despite what politicians think. Skins didn't work because they couldn't show sex and drugs, the majority of the show, on tv. And inbetweeners falls hits the same problem. one of the gret things about the original was the frank nature of their teenage male conversations, but without the cursing and horrid descriptions, it just seems like a childs version of super bad, without the funny.

it just happens so much with british shows coming to america. And it is usually the same stuff. Dumbed down, goofier, and clean "comedy"

I've rounded up my American friends on this and tried to warn them of the Inbetweeners, and told them to at LEAST watch the British version first if they're going to watch the US version later.

The only thing the Merifags have taken from the UK and done right is the Office. I hate the British Office but LOVE the US one.

interesting. i prefer the original office, but then the american version is almost an entirely different show.
i like a couple of the quasi reality shows like kitchen nightmares and trading spaces, but other than those i don't really understand the need to remake something. i wish mtv just aired the original show.
