See, you say that now...

Think about it like this: Dark Souls is essentially one huge tragedy. Sure, it's cool to die and die and keep coming back. Fell down eight times, get up nine, right? However, think about every person who went to Lordran in search of something. Think about everybody who didn't even make it as far as Lordran. Think about how everybody who enters Lordran, regardless of whether they are looking for knowledge or searching for their own light or hoping to find some sort of purpose or even just arbitrarily seeking adventure die tragically.

The only thing that would create in real life would be millions and millions of tragic ends to millions and millions of people. All those great aspirations cut down slowly by the degradation of constant death until they end up losing their minds.

Just imagine a life where life doesn't matter.

Jesus, I got into this...

there is actually a theory that gwyn and the gods created the darksign to prolong the age of fire by forcing people to offer more and more humanity to bonfires to keep the age of dark away, because he was afraid of the dark and such and yeah, it is definitely a curse, I hear the whole story around dark souls 2 is going to revolve around the curse itself where dark souls focused more on humanity and the age of fire
