For those who haven't heard Paralympian/ Olympian, Oscar Pistorius aka "the Blade runner" has been charged for murder involving his Girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp who was shot early this morning at there home in Pretoria, South Africa. From what has been said it sounds like Steenkamp could have been mistaken as a burglar, but this is just speculation.
This could be the end of a very promising Olympic/ Paralympic career for Pistorius who was the first double amputee to compete in the Olympics. The incident will leave a dark cloud over the International Paralympic Committee and Para sport as he was the poster boy for them, The incident will possibly have a massive impact on the Paralympic movement which was on a high after the London games were they set record after record for attendance and sales. The movement now has to find a way to get back up and running after this, And now the question to ask for Para Athletes is who will take the torch and bring Para sport from the shadows to the limelight?
" you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
As i am someone who competes in Para sport i am very sickened by this, having your face of the movement do this. i want to you know what do you all think of the Oscar Pitorius murder case?
here are various articles if you want more information:
