Anybody educated on the nonsense going on with New Orleans want to share their opinion?

I've been a huge Saints fan for years (Back when they were the Aints, and beyond) so I was obviously really saddened and angry with the news of their scandal.
While I do think they are guilty, my opinion is that the whole thing is being blown waaaay out of proportion, and as a result, their image is basically destroyed for the next decade at least. Which I think is bullshit.

Anyone else care to comment?

I agree and I'm not even a saints fan. It was blown WAY out of proportion and honestly WHO CARES if they wanted players hurt or not, it's THE NAME OF THE GAME! PAIN! If you can take out their best player, then you have the best shot at winning! Even if they weren't trying to hurt players and just wanted to get the best shot in, they were AT LEAST playing with motivation! This is where I think the NFL is truly trying to wimpify the league, they're even considering getting rid of kickoffs... wow...

I totally agree. The only two infractions they committed are 1) Accepting money under the table for "bets" or whatever you want to call the hard hits, and 2) All players involved neglected to report a clear infraction of the NFL's rules (Obviously...why would they tattle on themselves?!)
Besides that, they didn't technically cheat. They weren't using illegal cleats, they didn't have knives tucked into their sleeves, they weren't doing anything wrong really.
And yet, as if they weren't hated enough for their superbowl win (which they "didn't deserve"), now their image is just in shitter. Their reputation will not be the same for a long time.
The Saints were the scapegoats for, like you said, wimpifying the league.

you only say they didn't deserve the super bowl cuz you're a Colts fan ;D, idiocy aside agreed, but the Saints have been a whipping boy since they got to the NFL, they have more losing seasons than any other NFL team, so of course the one time they finally see success, they have to have a fault and therefore have to be looked down upon again.

That's a great point. I just hope that with all the garbage they've been through this offseason, they can still come back and show everyone that they're a threat

not with that "Breesy" distraction

But really, my favorite NFL player is getting treated like poop right now.
Brees basically put the Saints back on the map (with some help, I can't give him ALL the credit).
They need to pay the man!

DAMN STRAIGHT!

Yeah, but a good quarterback like Brees costs money, money the saints don't really have to spend if they want to add more players and extend other players contracts. I think that if the Saints don't pay him some other team will, the Saints should, but they have some salary cap issues to deal with first.

problem is so many other teams HAVE good QB's, so where would he go? Dolphins? Maybe... Point is he deserves to get paid, and he can make the rest of the team good like Manning did for the Colts.

He does deserve to get paid, he's a great QB I don't like having him in the Bucs division because he is such a good player and having my team play them twice a year isn't all that great. He does a hell of a lot for his team like manning, and I'm sure a team like the Dolphins would snatch him up in free agency like the Broncos did to manning. Another problem they also have is with him and the franchise tag because if they can't sign him this year and he plays under the franchise tender then the next year if they try to keep him with the franchise tag again it will go from $15 mil to $26 mil.

he didn't sign the tender I thought?

He didn't but he still has to play under it. He's trying to negotiate for a contract and more money.
