Well, Rick Nash is officially no longer a Columbus Blue Jacket and is now a New York Ranger. Would anyone like to have a discussion on various parts of the trade and its implications on the league and the two teams?

rangers are a little better this year, but will be fucked in two years when they have to resign gaborik, boyle, callahan, rupp, kreider, girardi, and lundqvist. nash has a cap hit too high for his production and it will hamper the rangers down the road

Very likely, however there is a good chance the cap will keep rising (personally, for the sake of teams in non-traditional markets, I hope that the floor will lower as well) and the Rangers will be able to re-sign the important players. Obviously captain Callahan is a must and so is the King and Gaborik, but I would say Rupp won't be in the league for too much longer (he is in his mid to late thirties is he not?). But the Rangers gave away two distractions and a good prospect (and of course what will be at the very least a late first-rounder). I think they one the trade by a landslide considering all of the wait for Howson to make a trade where he wanted to bring quality and quantity. Instead he only got the later. We will see what happens. I personally think that Sather outsmarted Howson big-time,

i dont think it was a bad trade, i just its a little near sited and not looking toward the future you definitely got the better of the deal. oh and outsmarting howson is like outsmarting a kid with downs syndrom :)

Oh God, that made me laugh! I will I agree it does seem a bit near-sighted, then again, the Rangers are legitimate contenders for the cup now. And oh god why did you have to word it that way! Howson was once heralded as one of the bright young minds of the game, but I am truly beginning to think of him in comparison to Burke, (only in this ONE way) I do not think he is the greatest ability to evaluate talent in the league.

Oh, and I am not a Rangers fan, I am a hockey fan (minus the Leafs, I just cannot stand the management or the fans, apologies in advance if you are a Leafs fan, I have enjoyed our conversation much), my favorite team is Detroit.
