Ichiro is a shell of his former self
Also, the Mariners owners (Nintendo of America) wanted to bring Ichiro back next year, which is something that the GM didn't want to do. Trading him now brings the possibility of Ichiro signing with the Mariners in the offseason down.
Oh yeah, and Ichiro asked for a trade a couple weeks ago.
