Being a vegetarian shortens your life span. Humans are omnivorous by nature. The exact same goes for people who consume strictly meat. While yes, you can get some of your minerals found in meat from beans, nuts, and soy, many others are totally irreplaceable as they are found exclusively in red meat.

I respect your choice though, I lived vegetarian for a short period of time, mostly because it was cheaper. And I couldnt do it.

Thats the hardest part. You are not yet in the college so you cannot start your own ways until then you are in the hands of your parents, but when in the college experiment with it.

It means they can eat dairy products(lacto) and eggs (ovo), but they abstain from anything else coming from an animal.

Personally, I think that vegetarianism in of itself is contradictory to human progress, but I won't judge those who practice it.

I think that the natural progression of natural evolution is the consumption of lesser(weaker) beings. In fact, the only way we gain energy is buy consuming living(or products of living) beings.

That being said, we shouldn't abuse those beings on which we rely. Neither should we inordinately kill.

Still, I see it as childish and silly to abstain from meat, when not only do we benefit, but the animal is spared a more gruesome, pointless death.
